Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Milo and Roger Roger enjoyed chasing each other up and down the trail at CU South Campus this morning. Colby and Griff ran around a bit, too, but didn't keep up with the Doodles. Sputnik and Racer watched them with interest, but stayed on leash with me. That was a good thing when Milo and Roger Roger dove into some muddy water, but the rest of the pack kept dry and un-muddied. The Doodles rinsed off in the pond near the end of our hike. Griff and Colby also splashed around in the water, and then went for one more big run together. Variety Pack Isaac, Zoey, Rucksack, and Coco were all eager to chase after tennis balls at the park this afternoon. Isaac always beat everyone

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik waited in ambush to then chase Ruffers around the trails this morning. Meanwhile, Zoe and Mamacita trotted along with me, making stops every so often to sniff around in the brush. It was a pretty quiet morning. Ruffers sniffed hello with one dog who passed us with their jogging human, after I called Sputnik back over to me. We passed a couple small dogs on our way back, as well, but they got scooped up at the side of the trail and didn't sniff hello. Variety Pack Rey quickly made friends with a playful pup at the park, and the pair of them wrestled around while a bigger dog hovered over them and occasionally barked. Roger Roger chased Rucksack around while Rucksac

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff and Colby ran around together a bit, but mostly just explored the brush side-by-side today. Racer licked up melted puddles in the ice as we made our way over some broad expanses. At one point in the hike, while I was cleaning up after Sputnik did his business, a Husky came up and sniffed hello with him while my back was turned and Sputnik didn't growl a peep or otherwise act untoward in any way - he just sniffed hello along with his packmates. Variety Pack Cooper was full of enthusiasm and barking at every dog we drove by on our way to Martin Park to walk the Bear Creek Path. At the start of the walk, Rey, Ruffers, and Zoey all hopped around with each other a bit. Th

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik, Mamacita, Roger Roger, and Rucksack were happy to get out onto the trails together this morning. There were a few icy stretches at Enchanted Mesa, but it was mostly easy to navigate. We didn't see many dogs on the trail today, but Sputnik and Mamacita were perfectly civil with the two we did pass. Rucksack and Roger Roger didn't find any good sticks to haul today. Variety Pack Coco was back with the pack today and had a fun time chasing after Ruffers at the CU South Campus trails. When Coco started getting tuckered out and stopped chasing after her, Milo and Zoey picked up the slack and ran all over the place while Ruffers played rabbit. Cooper barked and Isaac w

Wednesday Pack Activities

Morning Boarding Pack Clover, Isaac, Cooper, Monarch, and Ruby stayed pretty orderly throughout our walk around Wonderland Lake this morning, aside from Ruby and Clover repeatedly swapping places and gradually getting their leashes more and more wrapped around each other. That was easy enough to remedy, though. When it came to sniffing, everyone wanted to check out the same spots together. It was a very pleasant start to the day. Adventure Pack Ruffers and Rucksack ran all around Enchanted Mesa together this morning, while Sputnik and Zoe walked with me and did a lot of sniffing along the way. The trails were very muddy, and the whole pack ended up with black legs and bellies by the end

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Colby and Sputnik chased each other around at CU South Campus this morning, after giving each other lots of kisses in the car on the way there. Meanwhile, Rucksack was on the hunt for another stick to carry. Roger Roger was a bit too much with Rucksack today, so he went back on the leash pretty quickly. Meanwhile, Racer reverted to her leash-pulling ways and required a lot of attention. Rucksack eventually found his prize, and hauled it for the rest of the hike until a yellow Lab came by with a tennis ball and dropped it by him. For a moment, it looked like they were going to trade jobs, but then the Lab snagged his tennis ball back. Rucksack then grabbed up his stick an

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Roger Roger scooped snow up in his mouth as we headed up the trail toward Enchanted Mesa. We made a few stops along the way so the whole pack could sniff around in the snowy brush. Sputnik and Mamacita were both in pleasant moods today when it came to passing by other dogs. On our way back, Roger Roger and Rucksack found a choice stick, and Rucksack carried it the rest of the way back to the trail head. It had been a long time since Rucksack hauled lumber on a pack hike. It was good to see him back on the job today! Variety Pack Cooper, Zoey, Rucksack, and Roger Roger enjoyed a walk around Wonderland Lake this afternoon, with plenty of stops to sniff along the way. Coope

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik, Mamacita, Rucksack, and Roger Roger hiked Enchanted Mesa this morning. It was a pretty quiet time on the trails, but we did come across a few other dogs along the way, and Sputnik and Mamacita behaved themselves more civilly than they had been as of late. The packed down ice of yesterday was a bit slushier today, so navigating the trail wasn't as treacherous. Variety Pack Rucksack and little Zoe both pulled around a bit as we walked around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. Rucksack wanted to get ahead, while Zoe wanted to go off the side of the trail to sniff around in the grass. Meanwhile, Zoey and Roger Roger stuck to the trail with me and stayed right by my side.

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff was full of energy on the trails this morning. He raced all around like a maniac even when Sputnik wasn't chasing after him. It was fun to see him go, but I herded him off the side of the trail when other hikers came by because I didn't want him to startle them, especially along icy stretches. Sputnik and Racer did not have as high a level of energy as their packmate today. Racer has continued to show incremental improvement in her leash-walking manners. Variety Pack The pack were all very playful at the park this afternoon. They scattered quickly and all found friends within seconds, with the exception of Isaac who just grabbed the nearest tennis ball and started p

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack The warming weather resulted in some slushy snow on the way up to Enchanted Mesa, which was easier to navigate than icy patches. Ruffers brought up the rear, as usual. She and Sputnik were both pretty mellow during their time off leash. I took care with Sputnik to sit him down and have him wait at the side of the trail while other dogs passed, and he did a much better job of keeping it together today. We came across the hiker whom we often cross paths with, who used to hike with his Golder Retreiver until she passed away a couple years ago. Sputnik and Mamacita were both happy to go up and say hello, which he always appreciates. Variety Pack Little Zoe and Rey have taken

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff and Colby had a fun time running around at Enchanted Mesa this morning, while Sputnik and Racer were very interested in sniffing at grass and branches that poked out through the snow. Later on, Sputnik was surprisingly mellow as he explored off leash along with Griff. Eventually, however, he and Griff started chasing each other up and down the trail. Variety Pack The pack were all especially interested in sniffing along the trail around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. We made very frequent stops as Mamacita, Zoey, Benny, Oliver, and Isaac all put their noses to work. At one point, Mamacita, Zoey, and Benny were sniffing at a fence post and Isaac slipped through my le

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Roger Roger was pretty amped up when he first went off leash with Rucksack. He immediately started barking in Rucksack's face, but quickly settled down when I called him, and then behaved himself much more civilly as we hiked up to Enchanted Mesa. After a little while, Sputnik took a turn off leash with Rucksack and the two of them ran through the snow together. Sputnik had some diarrhea at the outset of the hike, but his energy level was still very high. Perhaps because of the upset stomach, he was especially ornery with the other dogs we came across today, and I had to keep him on a short leash whenever we passed one. Mamacita made some playful hops in along the snowy t

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik and Roger Roger chased each other around Enchanted Mesa this morning. After they had their fun, Rucksack got a turn off leash with his little brother. Roger Roger behaved himself well for a while, but then he threw a fit of barking and gnawing at Rucksack, so Roger Roger went back on leash. After that, Mamacita leapt playfully at Rucksack when he trotted by the pack, and then Rucksack stuck close by through the rest of the hike. Variety Pack Benny, Oliver, Milo, and Zoey enjoyed a leisurely walk around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. They took a moment to sniff and lounge around in the grass by the park park.

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff and Colby had a good time exploring together as we hiked the Enchanted Mesa this morning. After passing several hikers with dogs when we first branched off from Bluebell Road, the trail was pretty empty. I worked with Racer to build on her ever-improving leash-walking manners. Meanwhile, Sputnik trotted along nicely and stopped every now and then to leave scent marks along the way. Variety Pack Benny, Oliver, Mamacita, Zoey, and Isaac all enjoyed a walk around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. We made several stops along the way so everyone could sniff around. Benny, Mamacita, and Zoey also took the opportunity to leave scent marks at several spots. Mamacita almost f

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Ruffers was more responsive to Sputnik's attempts to play during our hike this morning, so the two of them had some fun chasing each other around. Meanwhile, little Zoe and Mamacita trekked through the tall grass, sniffing all along the way. Mamacita and Sputnik danced around each other playfully a couple times when Sputnik ran up to us, but Mamacita had to stay on leash and couldn't pursue him when he took off. Variety Pack Zoe has really taken a liking to Rey, and the two of them wrestled around in the back of the packmobile as we headed to the CU South Campus trails this afternoon. Rey spent the whole time lying down while little Zoe dove on top of her. When we got to t

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff took it easy at the back of the packmobile while Sputnik, Racer, and Colby all greeted each other with lots of kisses. Colby ran around through the brush this morning, while Griff mostly stuck to the trail during his off leash time. Both of them were very good about coming and checking in when I called them back. Racer had another pretty good day as far as walking without pulling too much. Sputnik Variety Pack Little Zoe was super excited to see her new puppy friend, Rey, again. Rey was a bundle of energy today, and was happy to bounce around with both big Zoey and little Zoe during a brief stop at the house before we headed out for a walk. Milo and Isaac both hove

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Roger Roger and Zoey chased and wrestled around with each other when they were off leash together during our hike this morning. Sputnik jumped into the mix whenever the Doodles drew near to us as we made our way along the trail. Mamacita didn't partake in the rough-housing, and just trotted along by my side.

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Roger Roger and Griff ran up and down the trail side by side this morning, while Sputnik hiked on leash at my side. There were some big gusts of wind when we were at the trail head and on Bluebell Road, but the wind wasn't quite as intense when we were on the Mesa Trail. Variety Pack Griff and Zoey walked the Bear Creek Path together this afternoon. Zoey was in full poof today, sporting a fresh 'do. The wind had settled down a bit by the time we had our walk, so she didn't get swept away with the breeze. Our walk was quiet and pleasant, with a few stops to sniff along the way.

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Racer had another good day of only moderate pulling on the leash, with some long stretches of walking along at my side on a loose leash. However, she and Colby were both pretty distracted by a dog who came up the trail from behind us. Colby kept whining as the dog and his human hiking companion came nearer, and Racer pulled backward to try to bring the pack over to say hello. I was impressed with Sputnik for nonchalantly sniffing through the brush and letting the dog pass without attempting any tough-guy displays. Griff didn't seem to really care either way about the other dog. Variety Pack Isaac and Griff raced around together off leash at the CU South Campus trails this

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack The trails were pretty empty today. Ruffers, Sputnik, Zoe, and Mamacita all enjoyed sniffing around in the damp, snow-spotted brush at every opportunity. Mamacita was grumpy about a couple delivery trucks that passed by the car just after we parked by the trails, but she was civil with the few humans we passed. The whole pack was on alert when we saw a buck lying down a short distance off the trail on our way up. Judging by the intensity of interest, I suspect a chase would have ensued if everyone wasn't still on leash. Variety Pack Zoe was way more into Rey today than yesterday. Rey was mostly focused on wrestling around with the bigger Zoey, but little Zoe enjoyed jumpi
