Bonus Pack
Roger Roger, Mrs. Miggins, and Dylan went for their morning constitutional together again today. We were poking along at a slower pace and got a late start, so we didn't make it all the way to the pond. Aside from some smells that caught the dogs' interests along the way, there wasn't much excitement. Roger Roger tried pushing the pace a bit but relented when I gave resistance since Dylan was doing his best to keep up. Mrs. Miggins wasn't that concerned with the pace and just followed suit.
Adventure Pack
Tozai and Yoshi did a lot of grunting and groaning as they chewed on each other in the back of the packmobile on the way to our hike at Chautauqua. Lucy was excited to see everyone but, like Lou, she did not get involved in the boys' rough-housing. The trails were very busy, so the dogs all stayed on leash for a while. Lou was definitely feeling more lively than on her last pack outing a couple weeks ago when it turns out she was sick. She kept up well for a while but did eventually start lagging further back as we went. Bluebell-Mesa was far less traveled, so Lucy and Yoshi went off leash together for a stretch. After they poked around for a bit, I let Tozai off with Yoshi and then the two of them proceeded to chase and wrestle with each other until Tozai checked Yoshi's shoulder into a tree trunk at full speed and Yoshi stopped and started whining. They both went back on leash at that point, and Yoshi was able to resume walking without a noticeable limp, so the impact didn't seem to cause any serious injury.
Variety Pack
The prairie dogs were out and making a squeaky ruckus as Johnathan, Alfie, Carl, Lumi, Beard, and Ruffers walked Goose Creek Greenway this afternoon. Alfie and Beard were both drawn toward the prairie dogs' siren song of high-pitched chirps, but they had the self-control to stay on the path without any wild lunges. Their packmates were unfazed by the prairie dogs' call. Lumi is generally a avery go-with-the-flow walker, but when we approached the grassy knoll where the dogs always like to sniff around, he made a b-line for it. Everybody checked out the area then posed for a pack photo. Ruffers continued to have great energy after having had a rough couple weeks. Johnathan and Carl couldn't decide which side of Alfie to walk on at my left flank but eventually settled into a stable formation that would temporarily get upended whenever they stopped to sniff around. Lumi, Beard, and Ruffers had less turnover of their positions as they trotted along at my other side.
