Friday Pack Activities (1/30/2026)
Adventure Pack Yoshi was excited to be back out on a pack hike after a long hiatus due to a paw injury followed by last Friday's frigid temperature. His enthusiasm came out in the form of pulling ahead pretty constantly, with his mouth hanging slightly open in a smile as he went. The slightly warmer and much sunnier weather brought out the hikers, both human and canine, and Shanahan Ridge was pretty busy. I let Tozai and Yoshi off leash together when we hit an empty stretch o

Thursday Pack Activities (1/29/2026)
Adventure Pack Griff, Rey, Arlo, and Racer were all very interested in the dwindling snowbank in front of the wood branch wall that has been put up to block off an old shortcut through part of Shanahan Ridge. They spent a good, long while checking it out. Arlo found a random stick from the trail a short while later and flaunted it proudly. Rey gave it a quick sniff but didn't attempt to take it. Griff and Racer weren't impressed with Arlo's find, or played it very cool if the

Wednesday Pack Activities (1/28/2026)
Adventure Pack Tozai, Bear, Nelly, and Ruffers enjoyed the trails at Shanahan Ridge today. Nelly and Tozai whimpered and pulled a bit when we passed a dog who was sitting on a boulder beside the trail. After that, Tozai and Bear got some wrestling in while Nelly hopped around, shadowboxing in place on leash as the boys tackled each other a short distance ahead. Ruffers took her time sniffing points of interest and munched on some snow. Variety Pack Alfie, Milo, Dylan, Griff,

Tuesday Pack Activities (1/27/2026)
Adventure Pack Racer, Imogene, Griff, and Arlo headed to Shanahan Ridge for their hike today. The trail had some muddy patches, but the vast majority of it was pretty dry. Patches of snow dotted the fields and the edges of the trail. Arlo has been the biggest snow muncher of the pack lately, but it was Racer who was going for it today while Arlo took a break from gorging on the fluffy white stuff. Imogene was more interested on chewing a stick she found. Arlo and Griff kept b

Monday Pack Activities (1/26/2026)
Adventure Pack Tozai and Rey played a bit off leash at Shanahan Ridge today. Rey seemed like she wanted to run, but Tozai kept engaging her in wrestling matches. Rey eventually gave up and started walking close to the rest of the pack to send Tozai the message that she didn't want more wrestling, and Tozai is learning to respect the space more than he used to. Bear went over the hill to briefly check out the little pond again today. He just dipped down for a moment and then c

Thursday Pack Activities (1/22/2026)
Adventure Pack Racer, Arlo, Griff, and Rey headed to Shanahan Ridge today. There are a lot of piles of horse manure at Shanahan Ridge lately, and the dogs thankfully haven't been overly interested in them. Griff started holding his front right paw up and limping at one point. I checked his paw and didn't see anything at first. He took a few normal steps but then started holding it up again. Upon closer inspection, I discovered a tiny sliver of a needle in his pad and removed

Wednesday Pack Activities (1/21/2026)
Adventure Pack Nelly's attention was all on me and Tozai's attention was mostly on Ruffers and Bear as those two sniffed around in the field beside the trail; however, when I started to bring Nelly and Tozai over to the spot where Ruffers and Bear had been sniffing, Nelly was the more eager between them to get her nose down and check things out for herself. We saw a couple other dogs on the trails, who passed on by without stopping to greet the pack, despite one making a vali

Tuesday Pack Activities (1/20/2026)
Adventure Pack The pack was greeted by a pair of friendly, off-leash dogs at Shanahan Ridge today. Griff and Imogene hurried ahead to say hello. The other two dogs then came up to sniff acquaintances with Racer and Arlo. Arlo got a bit overexcited and started to bark at them. Racer, on the other hand, moved on quickly as her focus returned to sniffing along the edge of the trail. Griff and Imogene ran up and down the trail a couple times with their new friends before we parte

Friday Pack Activities (1/16/2026)
Adventure Pack Lumi and Tozai ran and frolicked through the fields and across the trail at Shanahan Ridge. Lucy watched them and dodged around when they came near. She had her own time to run with Tozai a bit later in the hike. Lou watched her packmates sprinting all around but made no attempts to insert herself even when Lucy kept running back to us and stopping right next to her, to catch her breath in between bouts of being chased by Tozai. When Tozai persisted in mugging

Thursday Pack Activities (1/15/2026)
Adventure Pack Rey, Griff, Racer, and Arlo all wanted to check out different spots along the connector trail at Shanahan Ridge today, so they spent a while shuffling around each other as I disentangled leashes from each other and from bush branches that got in the way. Rey and Griff spent their off-leash time sniffing a bit further off the trail, but didn't wander very far. Racer and Arlo were happy when I brought them over to one spot where their packmates were poking around
