Friday Pack Activities (8/7/2026)
Adventure Pack Lou, Carl, Tozai, Lucy, and Alfie walked Boulder Creek Path today. It didn't feel as hot as I was expecting, perhaps because the smoke in the air is diffusing the sunlight. The dogs got into the creek at Boulder Creek Park (what used to be called Central Park, where the library is). Carl got to mark the usual trees at Eben G. Fine Park on the way out but had to skip one on the way back because people were standing around it. The pack received some compliments o

Thursday Pack Activities (8/6/2026)
Adventure Pack Racer, Alfie, Rey, and Arlo headed to Boulder Creek Path for today's outing. Everyone enjoyed their dip in the creek, but Arlo especially, as usual. We encountered a hummingbird who lingered nearby for a couple minutes before zipping off, but it was so small that I couldn't get a good photo of it even though it wasn't very far off. There were a lot of goose droppings on the path by the kids' fishing pond, which Racer and Alfie showed a little too much interest

Wednesday Pack Activities (8/5/2026)
Adventure Pack Alfie, Tozai, Bear, and Nelly headed to CU South for a change of scenery today. It was nice and cool out, so being in the sun was nice, and the trails are pretty flat, so we weren't exerting ourselves too much in the smokey air. Everybody sniffed hello with a friendly dog who came up from behind us and mingled with the pack for a minute. There was a horse in the distance at one point, which none of the dogs took notice of. We mostly just kept up a steady, moder

Tuesday Pack Activities (8/4/2026)
Adventure Pack With a nice break in the heat, Racer, Imogene, and Arlo went for a mountain hike instead of sticking to Boulder Creek. Some hikers commented on how nicely behaved they all were as they politely pulled to the side of the trail with me so the other hikers could pass. A young boy among them stopped and asked permission to say hello, and the dogs all happily received pets from him. After that, they made friends with an Australian Shepherd on the Red Rocks Trail. Th

Monday Pack Activities (8/3/2026)
Adventure Pack Carl joined Bear, Tozai, and Rey in the water instead of staying on the stone steps during our first water stop at Eben G. Fine Park. Someone commented that the dogs were a variety pack due to their different sizes and coats. I didn't correct him that the Variety Pack was actually coming out later in the day, though the thought crossed my mind. Everyone got in the creek again a bit further along, to cool off some more on this extra hot day. Variety Pack The tem

Friday Pack Activities (7/31/2026)
Adventure Pack Lou, Nelly, Yoshi, and Tozai strolled Boulder Creek Path together again today. As usual, Nelly kept dry while her packmates headed to the water with no hesitation. Yoshi seemed a little surprised at the depth where he got into the creek at one point. He quickly returned to shore with Nelly and then gave her a shower by shaking off right next to her. I winced right alongside Nelly, as Yoshi was thoroughly soaked and got us both pretty wet. Lou and Tozai were sti

Thursday Pack Activities (7/30/2026)
Adventure Pack Racer, Rey, Arlo, and Griff enjoyed another mellow stroll along Boulder Creek Path today, as the heat has quickly returned. Arlo lingered extra long in the water during our creek-side stops. The others all enjoyed cooling off but hopped back out as soon as I motioned to continue on our walk. Everybody took a load off in a shaded spot in Boulder Creek Park, but there was no rolling in the grass this time around. Variety Pack Tozai and Sanni wrestled around at th

Wednesday Pack Activities (7/29/2026)
Adventure Pack Tozai, Sanni, and Bear rushed down into Boulder Creek at the beginning of our pack walk. Nelly hung out on the lowest step and got a drink. She winced and ducked away whenever Bear would shake off nearby, but she kept coming back down to the step. Bear came over to check on Nelly, and they sniffed noses for a minute while Tozai lay down to soak and Sanni chilled beside him. Sanni was in the habit of pulling ahead a bit until she switched positions with Tozai; t

Tuesday Pack Activities (7/28/2026)
Adventure Pack There was a downpour just after we parked at The Peoples' Crossing, so we waited in the packmobile until it settled down to a light sprinkle. Arlo was nervous about the rolls of thunder in the distance, but he mustered the courage to continue up the mountain. Racer made a move toward the ditch when we crossed it, but quickly gave up the attempt to draw us down to it when she noticed it was dry. The skies gradually cleared more and more as we made our way up and

Monday Pack Activities (7/27/2026)
Adventure Pack We started up the mountain at The Peoples' Crossing but turned back early when the sun came out from behind the clouds and started beating on us. Carl tested the waters on a small ledge at the bottom of the stone steps at Eben G. Fine Park while his packmates got right in. Bear gets so happy when he's in the water and shows it with his playful head tosses. Tozai and Rey were tamer in their enjoyment but happily lingered in the creek until I spurred the group on
