Wednesday Pack Activities
Adventure Pack
The Red Rocks Spurs were full of kids today, in what appeared to be three separate groups. Ruffers lingered among the first group we encountered at the ditch on our way up the mountain. The rest of us moved on since the bank was full of kids with open lunch boxes, so I couldn't bring the whole pack down to the water. The dogs got to cool off at another point along the ditch, just before we came across another group of kids. Avo stuffed her face into an unattended lunchbox as we passed through, but didn't come away with anything. Dylan and Sputnik didn't try to get in with the kids, though I did see their noses scanning the air as we went by.
Variety Pack
Rey and Archie played hard before we headed out for the walk. Carl barked at them a bit but decided he was willing to let their shenanigans slide after I told him to chill out. Archie seems to be starting to understand when it is and is not playtime, as he stayed in place pretty well without harassing Rey as we walked the Bear Creek Greenway. Mrs. Miggins wasn't too eager to walk, and insisted on stopping to lie down in the shade a few times along the way. Carl and Archie both pulled a bit here and there, especially when another dog passed by, but mostly did a good job of staying on pace and in formation. Imogene, Roger Roger, Rey and Zoey were model walkers throughout.
Rest in Peace, Rucksack
More sad news for our eldest generation of pack members. Rucksack, big brother to Roger Roger and Mrs. Miggins, passed away last Friday in his home. I will always remember Rucksack's habit of dutifully hauling big sticks on the trails during his youth, and his sweet and calming demeanor throughout his life. He was always a wonderful role model for all of his younger packmates, and we will miss him dearly.
