Adventure Pack
Tozai, Bear, Lucy, and Nelly headed up the mountain along Anemone Trail at The Peoples' Crossing today. We encountered several other dogs during our outing. The first was one passing by the trail head just as we set out; Bear and Tozai both made quick moves toward the dog, who was passing along the paved path about 20 feet away from us, and Bear grumbled. Their reactions surprised me because they haven't had outbursts like that lately. Lucy and Nelly might have reacted a bit as well but I'm not really sure because my attention went to the boys, since they pulled pretty hard for a moment and remained a bit agitated until that dog had moved well past us. We had a much more pleasant encounter with a Goldendoodle on the mountain, who came up to us as we were hanging out in a shaded spot at the edge of the trail. Everybody sniffed hello with friendly demeanors and no grumbles. When we were passing through the trail head on our way back down, there was a Golden Retriever who barked and lunged toward the pack as we went by, and the pack stayed cool and calm. Then, a chocolate Lab politely sat and got a treat as we walked by without incident. So, we experienced the whole gamut of dog interactions today!
Variety Pack
Alfie, Griff, and Carl headed to Goose Creek Greenway this afternoon, where the prairie dogs were out in full force. Alfie lunged toward the first one he saw at the edge of the parking lot. He gradually became less and less sensitive to their presence as we passed by more and more of them. Carl and Griff were only slightly alert to their presence, probably responding to how agitated Alfie was. The boys lined up for a nice small-medium-large progression when we stopped for a pack photo.
