Adventure Pack
Given the warm weather and holidays, there was a very high turnout of dogs with their people at Shanahan Ridge as Nelly, Lou, Tozai, and Alfie went for their pack hiked. The pack kept on the move pretty steadily throughout, without getting too distracted by the other dogs or scents along the way. Nelly and Alfie each wandered a bit into the brush on either side of the trail, but did so while keeping in stride. Lou and Tozai stuck closer to me. Tozai did his routine of picking a packmate to try to annoy during the final stretch of the hike, and the target of his attention today was Alfie. Alfie was unmoved by the pokes and prods, and Tozai gave up on it pretty quickly.
Variety Pack
Carl led the sniff patrol on the way to Wonderland Lake this afternoon. Ruffers, Dylan, and Alfie all fulfilled their olfactory duties with pleasure and gusto. We made too many stops to count, working our way from tree to fencepost, to shrub, and so on. Alfie has regrettably tagged a lot of packmates when leaving his mark in the past, and did so again today when Dylan moved in to do his sniffing at the wrong moment. What was more surprising was when Alfie got tagged by Carl. Alfie stepped next to Carl just as Carl was lifting his leg to mark a tuft of grass, and Alfie ended up with a few yellow droplets on his toes as a result. Ruffers managed to avoid all of that, despite getting her fair share of sniffing and marking done.
