Friday Pack Activities (5/15/2026)
Adventure Pack The trails at Chautauqua were busy today, but Tozai and Yoshi got some time to romp in the meadow without other hikers to mind. Lou kept close to me, while Nelly was more focused on sniffing. It was warm enough that everyone was happy to take some water but nobody was panting all that hard. Tozai didn't have the best manners, as he kept trying to nose in on the water during his packmates' turns. Alternatively, Yoshi's tack was to nibble at the treat pouch while

Thursday Pack Activities (5/14/2026)
Adventure Pack Arlo, Rey, Griff, and Racer shade-hopped at Chautauqua today. There were some stretches when the sun was behind the clouds, which made hiking the mostly-open meadow feel more comfortable. Griff wasn't interested in any water, but the rest of the pack drank it greedily. Everyone was pretty mellow and moved along at a pretty slow pace in the heat. Variety Pack Alfie, Tozai, Carl, and Ruffers headed to Bear Creek Greenway this afternoon. Ruffers wanted to pull ove

Wednesday Pack Activities (5/13/2026)
Adventure Pack Bear and Ruffers were eager to get to the shade on our way up Chautauqua Trail today. Once there, the whole pack was thirsty for some water from the CamelBak. Tozai still had the energy to run around Bear once we were up the mountain, and Bear wrestled with him a bit. Nelly sniffed in the grass at the edge of the trail and nibbled at it a bit. Ruffers did a great job keeping up, though she did insist on some backtracking to check out scents we had passed, espec

Tuesday Pack Activities (5/12/2026)
Adventure Pack Griff, Arlo, Imogene, and Racer were happy to get to the shaded Bluebell-Mesa Trail after making their way up Chautauqua Trail today. Everyone took some water. Arlo was the thirstiest of the bunch, while Griff only barely wet his tongue. Racer and Imogene happily drank when offered but didn't nose at me for more like Arlo kept doing. For the short stretch of Bluebell Road that we covered on our way to Chautauqua Trail, Racer led the sniffing campaign as usual.

Monday Pack Activities (5/11/2026)
Adventure Pack The pack was feeling the sun and heat today. Bear was the most put out by it, and he kept pulling over to shaded spots to lie down on our way up the mountain. Ruffers and Rey kept slow but steady paces and were happy to linger in the shade as well, but they didn't initiate those stops like Bear did. Tozai was the only one who was relatively unaffected by the change in the weather. He kept trying to get Rey to chase and wrestle with him, but she wasn't intereste

Friday Pack Activities (5/8/2026)
Adventure Pack The trails were already mostly dry today after the mid-week snowfall. We came across some soft spots, but Ski Jump Trail - which often is a mess after heavy precipitation - wasn't slick at all. Yoshi and Tozai had a blast chasing and tackling each other there. Nelly was occupied with sniffing around the trails and didn't get worked up about her packmates' play the way she sometimes has. Lou didn't relish the uphill travel of the first part of the hike. She took

Thursday Pack Activities (5/7/2026)
Adventure Pack Griff and Rey were very interested in nibbling on the grass that poked up through the snow. Racer was more interested in munching on the snow itself. Arlo was not in the mood for grazing like his packmates. He was content with kicking up snow after leaving scent marks - a diversion Griff happily partook in alongside him. Variety Pack Teo, Lou, Carl, and Tozai headed to Goose Creek Greenway this afternoon. Teo actually walked at my side without pulling for some

Wednesday Pack Activities (5/6/2026)
Adventure Pack Lucy greeted Lumi and Bear in the packmobile with her usual flurry of excitement, and gave Tozai the same treatment when he joined us. The dogs were eager to get out onto the snowy trails today. Bear and Lucy roamed around together, poking their noses into cave-like pockets that were formed by snow-laden bushes. Lumi enjoyed a good roll in the snow. Tozai and Bear chased each other all over the place. It was a great time for the pack. When the hike was over, Lu

Tuesday Pack Activities (5/5/2026)
Adventure Pack Imogene, Arlo, Griff, and Racer set out at Chautauqua amidst the big, wet snowflakes that were falling, which quickly had everyone soaked. Racer was undeterred in her quest to analyze the ditch by the trail head. Arlo usually wants to pause for a drink from the water bowl at the trail head, but he made no such move today; I guess he figured the whole situation was wet enough already. Imogene ran in big circles around the pack as we hiked across Bluebell-Mesa an

Monday Pack Activities (5/4/2026)
Adventure Pack We made our way up Chautauqua Trail at a very gentle pace today, as Ruffers and Rey both wanted to take their time. While we went slow, we kept a steady pace after the typical sniffing along Baseline Trail. With the overcast skies, Bear was a lot more willing to keep on the move without seeking breaks in the shade. Tozai bumped and chewed at Bear as they jogged down Ski Jump Trail together. They both did a good job of returning to me when I called them back to
