Adventure Pack Tozai danced around in front of Bear and got him to chase him around as the pack headed up the mountain at Chautauqua today. The trail was damp but not muddy enough to splatter as the boys galloped across it. Rey and Carl spent their off-leash time sniffing and exploring together instead of rough-housing, although Rey did get in for some tackles on Tozai earlier on in the hike. Adventure Pack Lucy sprang through the brush, presumably after some rodents, as the pack hiked across the mountain on Bluebell Mesa Trail. Tozai did a better job of inviting play with Yoshi instead of just bulldozing and was rewarded with several long bouts of chasing and wrestling. Lou was really into making sudden stops to sniff today; sometimes she backtracked to a spot we had just passed, other times she wanted to sniff in the middle of the trail, right in front of her. H

Adventure Pack Griff, Rey, Arlo, and Racer hit the trails at Chautauqua again on another day of beautiful hiking weather. There were actually some fresh patches of light-green grass growing amidst the fallen pine needles, which the dogs found appealing. Adventure Pack Bear, Nelly, Tozai, and Lucy headed to Chautauqua for their hike today. I kept everyone on leash on our way up Bluebell-Baird Trail since we saw those deer so close to the trail earlier this week. We didn't see any deer today. I myself picked up a scent at the base of Bluebell-Baird Trail that I think had to have been a nearby bear. The dogs didn't react, but I found the scent pretty overpowering. A hiker warned that there were a couple deer close to the trail, so I put them back on leash. Adventure Pack Chautauqua was back to bustling today; but we encountered a lot of dogs instead of kids, this time around. Lucy and Tozai pulled a bit as the other dogs went by but overall minded their manners. Lou and Nelly remained calm and polite. Tozai and Lucy roamed through the fields around Bluebell Mesa Trail while Lou and Nelly hiked at my sides. Lucy didn't seem to find any rodents, as she didn't do any pounces that I saw. Adventure Pack The weather was perfect for hiking as Yoshi, Tozai, Nelly, and Bear hit the trails at Chautauqua. A lot of other people also took the opportunity to enjoy a hike in the mild fall weather, including many families with little kids. One or more jets flew over the airspace there and created a low rumble that resembled thunder and made Arlo nervous for the first part of our outing. Griff's limp from last week seemed better.
