Adventure Pack
Yoshi was excited to be back out on a pack hike after a long hiatus due to a paw injury followed by last Friday's frigid temperature. His enthusiasm came out in the form of pulling ahead pretty constantly, with his mouth hanging slightly open in a smile as he went. The slightly warmer and much sunnier weather brought out the hikers, both human and canine, and Shanahan Ridge was pretty busy. I let Tozai and Yoshi off leash together when we hit an empty stretch of trail, and the two of them growled as they wrestled and chewed on each other's necks. Nelly hopped around again while watching her packmates rough-house. Lou didn't try to get involved, and just followed in place behind me the whole time.
Variety Pack
Carl, Lumi, Ruffers, Dylan, and Alfie headed to CU South Campus for their afternoon stroll. There were apparently tons of interesting smells around, so we didn't cover that much distance; everybody just wanted to pull over to the side and sniff around in the grass. The trails were even more full of dogs than Shanahan Ridge was earlier in the day. Among them, we came across a pack of three Chihuahuas with one who was particularly friendly and forward. He ambled right up into the midst of the pack and politely sniffed hello with everybody, then stood in the middle - with most of the pack towering over him - and just looked around with a calm and satisfied expression like he had decided he had found where he belonged. When we got moving along again, he followed our pack a little before turning and rejoining his own.
