Friday Pack Activities (11/22/2024)
Adventure Pack
Racer, Yoshi, Arlo and Nelly enjoyed hiking the Flatiron Loop at the Chautauqua today. Arlo and Nelly got worked up about the few other dogs we saw early on; they both whimpered and whined as if it truly pained them to not get to have a greeting. They were more composed when we passed another dog further up the mountain, who was hanging out at the bottom of the rock face where his people were climbing. Yoshi got a bit more excited about that dog, as he watched us keenly the whole time we were approaching his enclave along the trail. Racer was more interested in dead grass and debris than in other dogs. Nelly joined her in investigating the same, but I prodded her along when she started nibbling at it.
Variety Pack
Teo was more excited when joining the pack today - not as much as his first day, but more than his second. His packmates didn't react much to his bursting, whiny energy, as they are quickly getting used to their new packmate. We only stopped briefly at the mile-marker boulder along Bear Creek Greenway; the dogs did more sniffing around in the field today. Carl and Lumi both took drinks from the CamelBak while Teo looked on curiously. I offered him some, but he either wasn't thirsty or wasn't sure what to make of it. Ruffers, Lou, Lumi and Carl were all exceptionally calm and orderly walkers today, providing a wonderful example for the new addition.
Bonus Pack
Mrs. Miggins, Jonathan, Roger Roger and Beard walked around Wonderland Lake late this afternoon. Even though the sun was behind the mountains, the air wasn't too chilly yet. Roger Roger helped to keep Beard herded by walking to his outside, but it was still a struggle keeping the little guy to stay on pace without trying to scurry ahead. Meanwhile, Jonathan and Mrs. Miggins walked nicely beside each other at my other flank, occasionally switching positions with each other. There were several spots along the way where the whole crew became very interested in the smells they found in the grass beisde the path, and they all investigated the areas thoroughly.
