Adventure Pack

Ruffers, Rey, Bear, and Tozai made lots of stops as they poked along through Chautauqua Meadow. Once we got past the area where bears have been active, I was about to let a couple of the pack members off leash. However, Rey and Tozai started acting funny and pulling a lot, so I decided to keep everyone on. Moments later, I realized the cause of their misbehavior: there was a buck watching us from a way off the trail. We continued on by after snapping a photo, and a little later, I was about to let them off leash again when I noticed a flock of wild turkeys roaming just off the trail. So, in light of all the wildlife activity, the pack ended up staying on leash through the hike.

Variety Pack

Nelly, Lucy, Lou, Dylan, Carl, and Alfie walked Bear Creek Greenway this afternoon as storm clouds crept in. When we were walking through Martin Park, I felt a few stray drops of rain. When I looked to the ballfield beside us, there was a shower pouring onto it just a couple hundred feet away from us, but we ended up staying essentially dry for the entire walk. We kept a slow but steady pace throughout the walk, with long stops at the trail marker boulder by the basketball courts both times we passed it. Dylan had a tough time and needed another stop to catch his breath at one point. The others were a little restless at first, but then settled down and waited calmly and politely. Dylan was able to catch his breath and finish out the walk ok, and everybody obliged by slowing down a bit more for the remainder.
