Racer insisted that we take our time up Bluebell Road - as she often does - especially near the trail head, as she wanted to check out every smell in the area. Griff noticed a couple black squirrels in the distance and ran over to them. They were up in the trees well before he reached them. Rey was excited about Griff's sudden burst of energy, and she chased behind him. I don't think she saw the squirrels, though, because when Griff stopped she just stood next to him and looked around like she was trying to identify the source of the commotion. As we neared the last stretch of the hike, Arlo was jealous when he saw Griff greeting another dog ahead of us off leash, and he barked a bit in protest.

Variety Pack

Tozai immediately made some friends and raced around the Valmont Dog Park with them this afternoon. Meanwhile, Carl kept busy playing fetch. Scarlett stuck to my side more closely today than on our park visit Tuesday. I think she was a bit intimidated by all the big dogs running around. However, she did eventually get into a more playful mood and started ambushing Carl sometimes when he was returning with his ball, then she started chased after it alongside him. Dylan didn't wander off as far today, but he still found plenty of friendly dogs to sniff hello with, and people who were happy to dole out some love to him. After the chasing, Tozai ended up spending a long while wrestling with a one-and-a-half-year-old Swiss Mountain Dog named Sebastian, and then had another wrestle session with yet another dog, which ended with the two of them lying down and cuddling while they chewed on each other.
