Adventure Pack

Carl joined Griff, Racer, and Arlo for the hike at Chautauqua today. It took a while to really get moving, because the dogs were all extremely curious about the smells around the trail head. Racer kept stopping every five paces or so, to pull over and check out a scent. Carl was quick to join her every time. Arlo and Griff found their own points of interest as they waited on their packmates, then left their marks and kicked up some dirt. We went through this routine countless times all along Bluebell Road before we started moving at a steadier pace up the trail. Everyone stopped to get a drink from the stream on the way to Mesa Trail and back, and Arlo lay down to dip his chest in the water.

Variety Pack

Dylan ran into the park alongside Carl and Tozai again today. This time, Tozai stuck close by for a few minutes before heading off to the center of the park to find friends. Carl didn't go looking for a ball because I came with one today, so instead he just barked at me to demand that I throw it for him. I waited until he stopped barking and stayed quiet for a minute before I started to play fetch with him, so as not to reward the pushy, noisy behavior. Carl actually stopped playing fetch for a minute when greeting another little dog who was interested in the pack. The new friend ran after the ball with Carl, chased Tozai, and followed Dylan around for a bit.
