Adventure Pack
Arlo and Racer followed their usual water routine again - Arlo bowing and lying down to soak, Racer chomping at the little waterfall. Griff and Rey were more interested in exploring the surrounding greenery. Rey was in an especially bouncy mood today, with a big smile plastered on her face for most of the hike. We only encountered one other dog today, a chocolate Lab. Arlo whined as he approached, and got a little bit of a sniff in as he passed. Rey watched with interest but stood in place. Griff and Racer didn't really care about making a new friend.
Variety Pack
We entered Valmont Dog Park with a tennis ball pre-loaded in the Chuckit!, to Carl's great satisfaction. While he immediately set to fetching, Tozai kept him company on his runs out and back; Ruffers and Lumi started sniffing around the perimeter. The dogs roamed around while I took cover in the bus stop enclosure at the center of the park with some other humans for a few minutes, as the edge of a storm passed by. Lumi made friends with a Husky mix who I think is the same one Dylan was infatuated with during another recent dog park visit. Ruffers entertained herself by around in the grass. Tozai made a couple different friends, and played well with them. He showed a healthy mix of interest and relentless drive to play, balanced with moves that invited engagement rather than just perpetually forcing it. Unfortunately, one of his play partners caught the attention of a German Shepherd who was more of a steamroller, so his play sessions with the other dog kept getting interrupted. Lumi took advantage of the kiddie pool - which is a much nicer model than the park has had in the past - and then promptly rolled in the dirt after getting nice and wet.
