Adventure Pack
The packed snow is starting to melt, leaving the trails muddy. Racer, Arlo, Imogene, and Griff all finished the hike well-splattered on their legs, chests, and bellies. Imogene and Griff led the way most of the time they were off leash, except a couple occasions when Imogene was distracted by a scent and lingered behind a bit; Griff kept a steady point position. Racer pulled off to the side a couple times along the way to check out a smell here and there, but otherwise she just kept pace at my side along with Arlo.
Variety Pack
Tozai headed straight for the nearest dogs upon entering Valmont Dog Park this afternoon. I had a tennis ball loaded and ready for Carl to start fetching. Dylan, Lumi, and Scarlett ventured off to sniff along the fence. Tozai decided the first dogs he met weren't exciting enough, so he joined Carl for some fetch. When we walked to the center of the park, there were more dogs to play with, and Tozai made the most of it. Scarlett started following Carl while Carl continued to fetch. Then, she started tackling him on his return. Then, she started going after the ball herself but then left it behind for Carl to bring back. Then, she brought the ball back herself a few times. Carl got distracted by a friendly Doodle named Fiona. Lumi was also excited to greet Fiona, and ran around a bit after sniffing hello. Dylan and Fiona sniffed noses while Carl stood between them, staring at me, waiting for a signal that I was ready to throw his ball for him again. In addition to all the running around Tozai did with various other dogs, he and Lumi went on a couple big chases with each other. Dylan found another dog he was interested in and actually left my side to wander off with that dog to the far north end of the park. It was an afternoon full of friends and fun!
