Adventure Pack

Racer wanted to give the trail head a very thorough once-over at the start of our Chautauqua hike today. Then, after we headed back to the waste bins to make a deposit, she wanted to give the same spots a thorough twice-over. The rest of the pack also happily sniffed around the area, but Racer was definitely the one leading the diversion. Arlo whined at the first dog we passed on the trail, trying to will the dog to come play with him. When that didn't pan out, he settled for chewing on a stick as we walked. We didn't see any bats being chased by butterflies today, despite passing through the same stretch of trail where we witnessed the odd event yesterday. Imogene was very excited when she went off leash, and started sprinting up and down the trail with great elation. Griff was more even-tempered, until he pooped - then he had a burst of excitement and did his own sprint up the trail and back.

Variety Pack

Tozai, Alfie, Carl, and Dylan headed to Goose Creek Greenway this afternoon. Everybody was very interested in a spot at the edge of the trail right as we got started. I was watching Tozai to make sure he didn't lift his leg on Dylan or Carl - who were sniffing right at his flank - when I heard an odd sound behind me. It turns out I should've been watching Alfie, because he unloaded on the backs of my legs while I was distracted with his packmates. Luckily, I just recently ordered some Nature's Miracle for treating pee on the carpet, and it had arrived while I was out with the pack. At least Tozai didn't tag Dylan or Carl. The prairie dogs were busy today, and Alfie took notice of them. He didn't lunge at any, but he was definitely on alert as we passed by them chirping from their dens and running between them. The others didn't have much of a reaction to them.
