Wednesday Pack Activities (10/4/2023)

Adventure Pack

We encountered a dog who looked like a short-haired Irish Setter early on in our hike, who paused in the middle of the trail as we approached. The pack was interested in saying hello but then Bear spoiled the greeting by jumping forward and barking. Bear and Lumi had a good time hiking shoulder-to-shoulder at my side while pack veterans Dylan and Ruffers brought up the rear together. We followed the usual pattern of frequent stops along Baseline Trail, a couple breaks in the shade on our way up the mountain, and then a steadier pace for the remainder of the hike. We also saw an Afghan Hound with a striking silhouette who was brought well off the trail as we passed, so the pack didn't get to say hello.

Variety Pack

Archie chased the action at the dog park today, while Buddy chased Archie. Lumi wandered off on his own a lot to sniff around. Every so often, he would look up from what he was doing and bound back toward me and his packmates. In addition to harassing Archie, Buddy befriended a Husky and a curly-golden-coated dog who chased him around a bit, but he soon got overwhelmed by the Husky's pushy demeanor and came over to me to catch a break. Archie, Buddy and Lumi all had some fun with one dog who liked to play fetch and also enjoyed wrestling around with all of them in the shade.
