Bonus Pack
Roger Roger, Dylan, and Mrs. Miggins enjoyed a slow-paced stroll to Wonderland Lake this morning. Dylan is at the tail end of an antibiotics treatment for bronchitis, and is hopefully turning a corner to feeling better. His back legs were wobbly whenever he tried to turn in place, but he did fine when moving in a straight line. Roger Roger, about 1 year Dylan's junior, was looking sturdy as he trotted dutifully at my side. Mrs. Miggins kept pulling all over the place at first, before she eventually settled into formation at my right while the old boys brought up the left together.
Adventure Pack
Ruffers - our other elder packmate - has also been through a recent round of antibiotics and her energy was definitely bouncing back today. Bear kept her company as the lingered behind to sniff around, but they didn't hang back that far and kept moving from spot to spot. Meanwhile, Tozai was practicing his loose-leash walking alongside Nelly. He pulled a bit when other dogs walked by, and he occasionally started to get ahead of himself, but he spent most of the time right in place at my side. Nelly veered off to sniff around here and there. Everybody took drinks from the CamelBak each water break we took along the way, except that Nelly skipped the first one. I guess she hadn't worked up a thirst yet but did by the second stop.
Variety Pack
Alfie, Beard, Johnathan, Scarlet, Carl, and Griff headed to CU South for the afternoon. Scarlet and Carl walked side-by-side, often switching places with each other, which caused their leashes to gradually become more and more entwined. The others kept formation pretty steadily aside from Beard occasionally slipping to the far or near side of Alfie. After the usual flurry of sniffing and scent-marking at the outset of the walk, we kept up a steady pace with very few stops. Some friendly dogs made close passes by the pack but only one Yellow Lab stopped for a brief hello.
