Friday Pack Activities (5/24/2024)

Adventure Pack

The pack leap-frogged with a Golden Retriever and his human as we headed up Chautauqua Trail today. At one point, we stopped to sniff hello. Yoshi was very eager to greet the young pup. Milo also did a fair bit of sniffing. Lou only briefly poked her nose around the other dog, and Nelly didn't bother with greetings. We made it partway up the 1st/2nd Flatiron Trail and turned around just before the trail starts to get more narrow and rocky, then made our way back down, taking Ski Jump Trail on the way. Yoshi was going for the grass pretty ravenously today. Nelly nibbled a bit during one of our stops, but didn't have nearly as much as Yoshi.

Variety Pack

Dylan and Racer both pulled off into the tall grass during the beginning of our walk along Bear Creek Greenway this afternoon. Once stopped, Lumi, Carl, Arlo, and Ruffers were always quick to join the party. Keeping leashes untangled was a challenge as the dogs were far more concerned with the olfactory information they were gathering than they were with their positions in formation. After a bit of that, we got moving along at a regular pace until our break at the mile marker boulder by the basketball courts. Dylan and Racer took a load off by lying in the grass, while the rest of the pack poked around a bit. We had a close encounter with a rabbit that neither I nor the dogs noticed until it bolted from a few feet away, at which point Lumi and Arlo both leapt and then pulled to the ends of their leashes, straining to convey their shared desire to pursue.
