Adventure Pack
Lou was doing a good job keeping pace up the mountain today. The cool, overcast weather probably helped with her stamina. Nelly also had no trouble, even though she and Lou both had a moment of hesitation when our connector trail met up with Chautauqua Trail and I turned to head up the mountain rather than down it. Tozai and Yoshi had plenty of youthful energy and didn't have any hesitation at any point; however, they didn't have a lot of energy left to romp across Ski Jump Trail on the return leg and instead just moseyed along. Tozai made a half-hearted effort to goad Yoshi into wrestling, but he gave up on that pretty quickly.
Variety Pack
Dark storm clouds loomed from the southwest and the thunder from sheet lightning in the distance was an almost-constant rumble. Ruffers normally would have turned and high-tailed it back to the packmobile under such circumstances, but the lack of hearing that comes with advanced age apparently has some benefits. Her packmates - Yoshi, Tozai, Nelly, Lumi, Carl, Alfie, and Lucy - were no more bothered by the lightning than their mostly deaf elder. We had such a full complement of pack members since Jen was able to join for our afternoon walk and handle a few of them. The pack was approached by one curious dog who sniffed hello with most of our crew while Carl and Lucy woofed. Rain started sprinkling as we made our way back to the packmobile, and came down in earnest once we were on the road for drop-offs.
