Adventure Pack
The pack had a new addition today - Katie! Katie is a very sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Carl, who is usually not that impressed, was very interested in Katie. Being a Cavapoo, perhaps he detected something in their shared lineage. Alfie, Yoshi, and Tozai were also very curious about, and followed her around while sniffing acquaintances. Lumi and Katie are already pals. The pack headed to Boulder Creek Path for a long walk with lots of breaks in the shade and some stops at the water. Everybody waded into the water during each stop, but only Lumi lay down in it to really get soaked. We waited at a distance as a family of geese crossed the path at the kids' fishing pond. We pulled over to enjoy the shade of a big tree just after the Broadway underpass, and the dogs all got to sniffing around the trunk. A squirrel zipped over to the very tree we were standing at, but went mostly unnoticed by the pack, since the trunk was wide and the squirrel came from the other side. Katie was the only one who caught a glimpse, and she was very interested. I think Lumi and Carl had a view, but they were too distracted sniffing around to notice. Alfie, Yoshi, and Tozai had no clue there was a squirrel who had come up so close to them. On our last water stop, Yoshi started to hop around with sights on Tozai, but there were too many leashes for me to allow them to get carried away. Yoshi responded very well when I drew his attention and had him settle down before Tozai had a chance to get worked up along with him. Katie was panting the most out of everyone by the end of the walk, but she kept up and had a good time with her new friends.
