Adventure Pack
Racer, Rey, Griff, and Arlo headed to Chautauqua to hike the Mesa Trail today. We migrated earlier than planned after I discovered a tick at the end of yesterday's hike at Shanahan Ridge. The trails were busy and everyone stayed on leash for a while. When Griff and Rey had off-leash time, they both stuck close by. Griff sniffed along one edge of the trail, beside Arlo, the both of them marking and kicking up dirt together along the way. Meanwhile, Rey sniffed along the other edge of the trail with Racer. They were less destructive than the boys, and just stuck to sniffing. OSMP Volunteer Reid said hello to the pack at the trail head on our way down, and commented on how tuckered out the dogs seemed to be. A few minutes later, a young couple in the park asked to say hello to the dogs, and the attention caused Rey and Arlo to start jumping around and wrestling with each other. Griff hung back. Racer moved in for the pets.
Variety Pack
Imogene, Ruffers, Lou, Dylan, Tozai, and Carl ambled along Bear Creek Greenway this afternoon, after a brief stop at the house, where Tozai and Lou rolled around together. Once out on the walk, our pace was very casual on the way out, but picked up a little steam on the return leg. Tozai kept turning his head to Imogene at my other side, and drifting toward her as he was feeling allured. Every time I noticed him start to fixate, I interrupted his attention to get him looking and moving forward again. Ruffers was in a similar mood, but was very easy to redirect. Dylan and Carl together led the effort to investigate points of interest, and all of their packmates were happy to offer their services as well.
