Tuesday Pack Activities (11/19/2024)

Adventure Pack

Imogene and Griff wandered over boulders and up the mountainside together as Racer and Arlo trekked alongside me on the Flatirons Loop today. There was a bitter chill to the air, and not very many other hikers were out. Racer veered off into the dead grass several times on our way up Chautauqua Trail, letting her nose lead the way. The rest of the pack was happy to join her in exploring. Imogene found a thick chunk of lumber to chew on for a short stretch as we continued up the mountain. Her packmates did not make any attempts to steal her prize. She and Arlo playfully bounced around with each other a bit at one point after she had left the stick behind.

Variety Pack

We had another new pack member join us today: Tozai! Dylan quickly took a liking to Tozai, and the two of them interacted a lot when we stopped at the house before the walk. They passed a bone back and forth between them, pawed and nosed at each other, and Dylan barked out of jealousy for Tozai's attention when Tozai was interacting with Alfie. While the barking was a bit dramatic, it was still great to see our resident grumpy old man take such a liking to the successor of Sputnik, and Mogul before him. Carl was less annoyed with Tozai than he was when first meeting Teo. Tozai sniffed hello with Carl very politely, and Carl returned the favor. Alfie and Tozai gently sniffed at each other - poking noses - and they got along nicely. During the walk along Bear Creek Greenway, everybody kept together in a nice formation at a steady pace. Carl again led the campaign to investigate the daily news at the mile-marker boulder, and rest of the boys all followed to get a nose full. Carl, Dylan and Alfie all left their own marks, while Tozai was just taking in the atmosphere. Tozai got a bit unfocused during the last stretch of the walk, and started jumping in circles to try to instigate some play with his new friends - the first hints at his 6-month-old puppyhood. All in all, he did a great job on his first official pack outing!
