Wednesday Pack Activities (11/8/2023)

Adventure Pack

Bear was in a wandering and playful mood today. He headed off the trail a few times and was hesitant to leave whatever gained his attention and return to the group. Ruffers wandered with him a bit but was more responsive when I called her back. Dylan kept on pace and in the chilly weather he wasn't panting at all. At one point, Lucy and I heard some rustling in the brush that the other dogs didn't take note of. I called Ruffers and Bear back and as I was leashing them up I saw a big buck cross the trail a little bit behind us. The pack wasn't paying attention and didn't react, and we moved along. Snow started falling on us and the flakes kept getting bigger and bigger. We had another wildlife encounter when a few wild turkeys made their way across the trail ahead of us. Everybody perked up to watch them pass, however Lucy was the most excited; she stood up on her hind legs to get a better view of them making their way through the brush in the distance.

Variety Pack

The snowfall had subsided by the time Archie, Alfie and Buddy headed to Goose Creek Greenway for their afternoon walk. Archie and Buddy had been playing a lot before we headed out, while Alfie lounged. Alfie started the walk pulling ahead a bit but eventually settled into pace very nicely at my side. Archie's on-leash manners continue to improve, but he still felt the urge to jump at Alfie a couple times along the way to try to stir up trouble. Buddy pulled ahead throughout the walk, but didn't get too worked up towards his packmates. Fittingly, there were some geese in the waterway where Goose Creek Path meets Boulder Creek Path, but otherwise we didn't have any notable wildlife encounters this afternoon.
