Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack

There was a light dusting of snow in the air as we hiked at the Chautauqua this morning. The pack moved pretty slowly on the trails, but Sputnik wasn't the one setting the pace. Ruffers and Dylan wanted to do a whole lot of sniffing in the tall grass beside the trail, and Avo always wanted to go and check things out with them, as well. Dylan would eventually be the first to move on to the next spot to sniff, while Ruffers and Avo would continue poking around for a while. Sputnik stood by and waited until his packmates were all ready to move on. At the end of the hike, Avo made sure to do a couple rolls in the grass as we crossed the park to the packmobile.

Variety Pack

Archie, Rey, Imogene, and Carl headed to the Bear Creek Greenway this afternoon. Carl was ravenous for baby grass, and kept pulling over to munch on it. Rey and Imogene walked side-by-side nicely on pace with me. Archie went back and forth between walking well at my side, and then insistently trying to tackle his packmates. He was mostly interested in trying to jump on Carl, but his attention turned toward Rey later on in the walk. After making countless attempts and being thwarted by a short leash, he would eventually give up and walk in place for a while like a pro. After a bit, he would get the bright idea to try jumping on his packmates again, as if we hadn't just been through that. Rinse, repeat. Near the end of our walk, Rey and Carl both got pretty excited about a crow that had landed on the ball field fence at Martin Park. They stared intently, on the verge of trying to make a move, until we passed by.
