    Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sanni and Lizzo were excited to join the hike this morning with Dylan and Sputnik. They both took a bit of wrangling to get them on the program, when they just wanted to follow their noses through the Chautauqua Park, but they did a good job once we got going. Dylan and Sputnik led the way while they were off leash, and readily circled back whenever I called them. We saw quite a few other dogs hiking with their people on the trails. Lizzo woofed at a couple

Adventure Pack Griff's nose was leading him again today, as he made frequent stops to sniff in the brush beside the trail. Racer and Carl were quick to join him on his investigations, while Sputnik waited on the trail and watched to see if I was going to offer him more water. Knowing what he wanted, I usually obliged. Sputnik did some sniffing when he was off-leash a little later, but he stuck to the trail while Griff wandered into the tall grass. Variety Pack Avo, Ruffers

Adventure Pack Lizzo was very excited to go out with the pack this morning. When I listed the names of the packmates we were picking up, she paused for a moment to contemplate and then let out whiny woof of anticipation. Unfortunately, I lied to her, because it turned out that Dylan - the first on the list - had to sit out from pack activities today. Sputnik and Ruffers then joined us, and we hit the trails. We saw relatively few hikers as we made our way up the Flatirons

Adventure Pack With the gusty wind we had this morning, autumn leaves were blowing everywhere. Carl was very excited about this, and had trouble choosing which leaf to chase after. Lizzo, in turn, chased after Carl. Griff made a lot of stops along the way today, to sniff and leave his mark. Racer, Lizzo, and Carl were all happy to sniff around with him, but were less diligent about leaving their I.D. Variety Pack Riley, Avo, Zoey, and Rey were all eager to rush over to ou

Adventure Pack Lizzo, Sputnik, and Ruffers had a good time at the Chautauqua this morning. Lizzo kept snatching tall, dried-up, broken chutes of plants that she found along the edge of the trail, and chewing them up into bits as we walked. Sputnik and Ruffers had no interest in Lizzo's destructive antics; they just hiked alongside me and stopped to sniff around here and there. Variety Pack The pack was pretty relaxed during our walk at the Goose Creek Path and Boulder Creek

Adventure Pack The Chautauqua was pretty busy again. We saw a lot of people, several dogs, and even another deer who again crossed the trail just a short distance ahead of us. The pack didn't seem to notice when the deer first crossed, but Avo saw it in the gully beside the trail just afterward, and couldn't contain herself. Thankfully, Lizzo followed the lead of Dylan and Sputnik instead of Avo, and she stayed calm while Avo worked through her feelings. The remainder of

Adventure Pack A deer crossed the Chautauqua Trail right next to a few other hikers, about 30 yards ahead of us. To my surprise, Sputnik, Griff, Carl, and Racer didn't react at all to it! Not a single woof or tug on the leash. I didn't even notice any ears perk up at attention. Later, on our way back down the mountain, some other hikers commented on how well behaved and well trained the pack was as they stopped and sat around me for treats and some water. Variety Pack Liz

Adventure Pack The trails at the Chautauqua were pretty quiet again today. Ruffers was very happy to greet a pair of Australian Cattle Dogs named Tula and Foxy, who also came around and said hello to the rest of the pack. Sputnik kept his cool while the pair took turns coming over to sniff him and Carl. Dylan led the way for the entire hike, except when we reached the crossroads where the Chautauqua Trail meets the Bluebell-Baird trail. Dylan thought that continuing up th

Adventure Pack The trails were significantly less busy today than they were on the bookends of last weekend. The scat from yesterday was still on the Bluebell-Mesa Trail. Racer and Sputnik passed right by it on leash with me. Carl and Griff both made me a bit nervous when they lingered, sniffing at it; but they ultimately passed along without doing anything gross. Variety Pack Zoey, Dylan, Avo, and Rey enjoyed a walk at Foothills Park and Wonderland Lake this afternoon. A

Adventure Pack The Chautauqua was very busy again today, as Riley, Dylan, Sputnik, and Ruffers enjoyed the trails. In addition to all the people, we also saw quite a few dogs - all on leash. The pack stayed on leash through the busiest areas, but Dylan and Ruffers spent some time off leash when we reached the Bluebell-Mesa Trail and Bluebell Road. Riley was very excitable this morning, and tried to dart toward a couple of the dogs we passed. We came across a pile of scat
