    Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff and Dylan led the way up the Chautauqua Trail together. They both stuck to the trail, except when Griff wandered into some tall grass to leave a mark there. After a while, Dylan dropped back and brought up the rear. Sputnik and Zoe were on leash at my side throughout. There were some strong gusts of wind that blasted us with sandy grit from the trail. The dogs didn't seem bothered by it, but I had to wipe sand from my eyes a couple times. Variety Pack Car

    Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack We crossed paths with a lot of other dogs on the hike this morning. Griff, Carl, and Racer all happily greeted the ones who came over to say hello. Sputnik even sniffed noses with an old, greying lab. Everybody drank plenty of water throughout the hike - especially Sputnik and Racer. Variety Pack Mamacita and Zoey took their time along the Boulder Creek Path this afternoon. Riley and little Zoe were happy to pull over and sniff around whenever their packmates s

Adventure Pack Hikers were again eager to dole out some love to the pack on the trails today. Sputnik and Dylan made sure to put themselves in positions where they might elicit such a reaction as people went by, so they received the most attention. Avo kept flopping down on the trail in between spurts of playful running through the fields. Ruffers made a lot of stops to sniff at the edge of the trail, both when she was off leash and when she was on. Variety Pack Carl and Zoe

    Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff was eager to say hello to the dogs we saw at the Chautauqua this morning, and Carl followed up behind him. We were hanging out in the shade at one spot along the trail and a dog came over to greet everyone. Sputnik got grumbly, which caused Racer to woof in solidarity with him, but Griff and Carl happily sniffed hello. Variety Pack Zoey was very happy to find an extra large Chuckit! ball at the park today, and enjoyed playing fetch with it. There were a f

    Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack The pack moved notably more steadily today than in the heat at the end of last week. We still pulled over here and there so Dylan, Ruffers, Sputnik, and Zoe could sniff around a bit, but tongues were largely kept in mouths rather than out panting, and nobody insisted on any long breaks in the shade. The trails were pretty busy and we passed by several other dogs, but none came up to say hello to the pack. Variety Pack Before our walk, Avo and Rey hopped around

    Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack The pack chilled out in the grass at Chautauqua Park before we even started hiking today. Dylan diverted us to the shade a few times early on, when we were heading up the trail. The Chautauqua was very busy, and a lot of hikers had nice things to say about the pack. Sputnik, Dylan, Zoe, and Milo did a lot of panting along the way. Sputnik, Dylan, and Milo all took some water from the CamelBak; Zoe refused when I offered, but was happy to slake her thirst at the

Adventure Pack Racer and Sputnik were thirsty dogs during the hike, although Sputnik wasn't as parched as he was in the recent past. Carl was curious each time his packmates were taking water from the CamelBak, and he tried a little each time. Griff took a pass on the water. Griff and Carl stayed a little closer than usual today, not scouting as far ahead. A couple stopped to pet the dogs at the Chautauqua Park after our hike, and doled out a big dose of love to Sputnik, Carl

    Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik and Dylan planted themselves in the paths of hikers on our way up the mountain today, and the hikers were typically happy to oblige them with some pets. A few passed by without paying the toll, but the boys didn't press the issue. Something caught Avo's attention when we were on the Bluebell-Mesa Trail, and she started running off. Ruffers perked up and then followed. Avo made a wide arc and then returned to the trail. Ruffers continued on a little bit

Adventure Pack Carl was the only one munching on sprigs of young grass today. I guess the rest of the pack are more seasoned and know when the flavor is the best, and perhaps that time has passed. A couple different hikers stopped to offer pets. Sputnik walked right up to them to soak up as much love as he could get. Griff, Carl, and Racer hung back, not really wary of the people, but not particularly interested in their attentions, either. The tongues were out as we had the

    Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik and Dylan enjoyed roaming off leash together. We looped around on trails at the Chautauqua without going very far into the mountains. Sputnik started off with a little bit of a limp to his gait, but seemed to get more comfortable over time. One group of hikers asked to pet the dogs as Sputnik and Dylan were already making their way straight for them. I brought Riley and Ruffers over to get some love, too, and everyone was happy.
