Monday Pack Activities (6/29/2026)
Adventure Pack Ruffers enjoyed cooling off in Silver Lake Ditch (which I mistakenly referred to as the nearby Farmer's Ditch in some recent posts). Meanwhile, Tozai and Bear raced and splashed through the water behind her. Rey mostly stuck to the bank but climbed down for a quick soak. Tozai and Bear continued to bump shoulders as they ran along the trail afterward. Ruffers and Rey were much more mild-mannered as they followed at a bit of a distance during their time off leas

Friday Pack Activities (6/26/2026)
Adventure Pack Lucy was in and out of Farmer's Ditch pretty quickly, then explored the banks while Sanni and Yoshi continued to enjoy the water. Yoshi dove right in and splashed around. Sanni kept swooping her face through the water as she waded up and down. Lou hung out on the bank at first but eventually climbed in with the others. The rest of the hike was less wet. Lucy got ahead of us when we were at the red rocks formation, and as I rounded the corner I saw she was sniff

Thursday Pack Activities (6/25/2026)
Adventure Pack The pack skipped Farmer's Ditch since it was already pretty cool and wet out today. Thunder occasionally rumbled in the distance, which caused Arlo to freeze up every now and then. We would eventually get moving again and then be fine until another soft rumble would come through after a while. Rey did some running on the mountainside while Griff scouted ahead on the trail. Every so often, Racer would pull hard off the side of the trail to check out something th

Wednesday Pack Activities (6/24/2026)
Adventure Pack Ruffers, Bear, and Tozai were all enjoying Farmer's Ditch while Nelly waited on dry land. She crept down to the water's edge a few times but then hurriedly backed away whenever one or another of her packmates shook off in the water. I wonder how far she might have ventured if the others weren't repeatedly creating a splash. Variety Pack Alfie, Lumi, Griff, Blu, Carl, and Gidget walked Boulder Creek Path this afternoon. There were some moments when the boys were

Tuesday Pack Activities (6/23/2026)
Adventure Pack Arlo kept play-bowing in the water at Farmer's Ditch when we made a stop there while hiking the Red Rocks Spurs and Anemone Trail today. Meanwhile, Racer waded around nearby. Griff and Imogene were both in and out of the water pretty quickly, then proceeded to investigate the foliage along the bank of the ditch. The whole pack did an exceptionally good job of politely stepping to the side and waiting while other hikers went by on narrow stretches of Anemone Tra

Monday Pack Activities (6/22/2026)
Adventure Pack Bear and Tozai chased and wrestled through Chautauqua Meadow. Ruffers and Rey enjoyed themselves in a less frisky manner as they sniffed around and trotted along behind us. There was a ton of poison ivy along Gregory Canyon, so we turned back before very long and returned to the meadow. After that, a young boy in Chautauqua Park asked if he could say hello to the dogs. Tozai, Bear, and Rey all gave him his answer by immediately stepping over to him and sniffing

Monday Pack Activities (6/15/2026)
Adventure Pack Tozai, Rey, Bear, and Ruffers sniffed around in the grass on the side street where we parked, before heading up to Chautauqua Meadow. Once we got going through the meadow, we kept up a pretty steady pace. Everybody happily took water when we stopped in a shaded spot on Gregory Canyon Trail. Ruffers lay down and Bear stood by her; meanwhile, Tozai pruned the dead branches off the lower section of a nearby pine tree. After a minute, Rey took an interest in Tozai'

Friday Pack Activities (6/12/2026)
Bonus Pack Bear, Mrs. Miggins, John, and Roger Roger walked to Wonderland Lake this morning. A Great Blue Heron was hanging out at the pond. The dogs did not seem as impressed as I was by the sight of it swooping across the water. Beard was eager to get going to wherever we were going and kept needing reminding to slow down and stay with the pack. Roger Roger, who has always been a dutiful follower, was actually pulling a bit himself as well, as he wanted to veer off and chec

Thursday Pack Activities (6/11/2026)
Adventure Pack Arlo and Griff wanted to pee on a lot of things in Chautauqua Meadow today. Rey and Racer made some stops of their own but not as many as the boys. Rey, Racer, and Arlo were all very thirsty during each of our rest stops; Griff passed on water until we were back at the trail head. He and Rey enjoyed roaming through the grassy meadow together while Racer and Arlo trotted at my sides. Racer went up to our OSMP volunteer friend Reid for some love at the trail head

Wednesday Pack Activities (6/10/2026)
Adventure Pack Tozai, Ruffers, Nelly, and Bear made the most of the occasional shade trees the dot the Chautauqua Meadow Trail. When we made it to Gregory Canyon, we didn't make so many stops, since the whole lower part of the trail is pretty well shaded. Bear was the only one to lie down in the shade. Everybody drank a lot of water. There was a loud crack of brush underfoot, somewhere up ahead at one point along Gregory Canyon Trail, and I wonder whether it was a bear passin
