Monday Pack Activities (1/26/2026)
Adventure Pack Tozai and Rey played a bit off leash at Shanahan Ridge today. Rey seemed like she wanted to run, but Tozai kept engaging her in wrestling matches. Rey eventually gave up and started walking close to the rest of the pack to send Tozai the message that she didn't want more wrestling, and Tozai is learning to respect the space more than he used to. Bear went over the hill to briefly check out the little pond again today. He just dipped down for a moment and then c

Thursday Pack Activities (1/22/2026)
Adventure Pack Racer, Arlo, Griff, and Rey headed to Shanahan Ridge today. There are a lot of piles of horse manure at Shanahan Ridge lately, and the dogs thankfully haven't been overly interested in them. Griff started holding his front right paw up and limping at one point. I checked his paw and didn't see anything at first. He took a few normal steps but then started holding it up again. Upon closer inspection, I discovered a tiny sliver of a needle in his pad and removed

Wednesday Pack Activities (1/21/2026)
Adventure Pack Nelly's attention was all on me and Tozai's attention was mostly on Ruffers and Bear as those two sniffed around in the field beside the trail; however, when I started to bring Nelly and Tozai over to the spot where Ruffers and Bear had been sniffing, Nelly was the more eager between them to get her nose down and check things out for herself. We saw a couple other dogs on the trails, who passed on by without stopping to greet the pack, despite one making a vali

Tuesday Pack Activities (1/20/2026)
Adventure Pack The pack was greeted by a pair of friendly, off-leash dogs at Shanahan Ridge today. Griff and Imogene hurried ahead to say hello. The other two dogs then came up to sniff acquaintances with Racer and Arlo. Arlo got a bit overexcited and started to bark at them. Racer, on the other hand, moved on quickly as her focus returned to sniffing along the edge of the trail. Griff and Imogene ran up and down the trail a couple times with their new friends before we parte

Friday Pack Activities (1/16/2026)
Adventure Pack Lumi and Tozai ran and frolicked through the fields and across the trail at Shanahan Ridge. Lucy watched them and dodged around when they came near. She had her own time to run with Tozai a bit later in the hike. Lou watched her packmates sprinting all around but made no attempts to insert herself even when Lucy kept running back to us and stopping right next to her, to catch her breath in between bouts of being chased by Tozai. When Tozai persisted in mugging

Thursday Pack Activities (1/15/2026)
Adventure Pack Rey, Griff, Racer, and Arlo all wanted to check out different spots along the connector trail at Shanahan Ridge today, so they spent a while shuffling around each other as I disentangled leashes from each other and from bush branches that got in the way. Rey and Griff spent their off-leash time sniffing a bit further off the trail, but didn't wander very far. Racer and Arlo were happy when I brought them over to one spot where their packmates were poking around

Tuesday Pack Activities (1/13/2026)
Adventure Pack Griff, Arlo, Racer, and Imogene braved the gusty winds at Shanahan Ridge today. The pack took their time along the connector trail, giving good, long consideration to various tufts of grass. Thankfully, the winds were brief-lived and calmed by the time we were about halfway through our hike. Imogene found a small stick that she chewed on briefly before dropping it and leaving it behind; Arlo didn't forage for any sticks today. Neither did Griff or Racer, though

Monday Pack Activities (1/12/2026)
Adventure Pack Bear and Rey explored Shanahan Ridge off leash together, trotting over to each other to check out the spots the other had found. At one point, Bear disappeared over a hill to one of the small ponds we pass by, and Rey stood in the snow with poised posture, waiting for him to reappear. When he did, she turned and went on a rabbit run, expecting him to pursue her, but Bear just casually trotted over to catch up with the pack. Ruffers stopped to munch on snow here

Friday Pack Activities (1/9/2026)
Adventure Pack Tozai and Lumi had fun racing through the snow together at Shanahan Ridge. We came by a Bernerdoodle who then played hard with Tozai for a while. Lumi ran with them a bit but didn't quite keep up, and decided to flop down in the snow and wiggle around for a bit. Once the Bernerdoodle moved on, Lucy got some off-leash time with Lumi. They ran around a bit at first but then split up to sniff around on opposite side of the trail. Tozai and Lucy then got a turn tog

Thursday Pack Activities (1/8/2026)
Adventure Pack Rey ran and frolicked through the snowy field beside the path at Shanahan Ridge while Griff sniffed trees and bushes. Racer walked with her nose down along the edge of the trail for the entire hike. She occasionally found some bits to chew on that I'm hoping were twigs and not poopsicles. Arlo found a big branch that he was very pleased with, and he lay down to chew on it until it was broken up into sufficiently smaller pieces. Variety Pack The Valmont Dog Park
