Adventure Pack Nelly and Bear were feeling the heat early on in our Chautauqua hike. They both kept stopping on the way up Bluebell Road toward Mesa Trail. Once we got to the shadier trail and stopped at the stream, they seemed refreshed. Milo and Bear both lay down to get their bellies wet before we continued on. Adventure Pack Racer and Imogene were both veering down into the ditch alongside Bluebell Road at the start of our hike today; and once the stop was initiated, Griff and Arlo were happy to join them for some sniffing and marking of the brush there. Bonus Pack Racer, Gidget, Arlo, and Blu strolled to Wonderland Lake this morning. The air was brisk as the dogs sniffed the snow-draped landscape. It was pretty quiet at the lake, save for the song of a red-feathered blackbird who was perched atop a nearby stalk of wheat. Adventure Pack Yoshi and Tozai had a blast chasing and chewing on each other when they had some open trail where they could go wild off leash without other hikers to accommodate. They also did a great job of coming back to me when I called them, when some hikers did eventually approach. Meanhile, Nelly and Lou poked along calmly at my sides. Lou especially wanted to take her time. She always has, but she seems to move more and more slowly as time goes on. Nelly didn't drag be
