Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Cooper was pretty worked up about the other dogs on the trails when we first set out this morning. The rest of the pack remained calm while Cooper whined and barked. Once we got moving, Cooper settled down and didn't react to passing dogs so much. Coco, Griff, and Sputnik were relaxed throughout the walk, which we took at a leisurely pace today. Everyone enjoyed taking their time to sniff out various points of interest along the way. Variety Pack Colby, Ruffers, Zoey, and Isaac walked the Bear Creek Path this afternoon. There was a squirrel hanging out in the grass not far from where we parked, which immediately caught the attentions of Ruffers and Colby. Zoey and Isaac

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack The pack headed to CU South Campus again this morning. Colby and Ruffers sniffed around in the brush together but weren't particularly playful. The two of them splashed through the muddy ditch despite my calls for them to come back to the trail. We came across a few friendly dogs who sniffed hello with Colby and Ruffers and then came over to greet Mamacita and Sputnik as well. When we reached the pond later on in the hike, Colby went for a swim while Ruffers, Mamacita, and Sputnik all waded around in the shallows. After that, Ruffers and Colby had a surge of energy and chased each other around for a bit. Variety Pack Cooper seemed less interested in pulling over to sniff

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Coco, Griff, and Colby explored the CU South Campus trails off leash together, interspersed with some brief chases. The three of them all enjoyed splashing through the muddy ditch water along the way. I kept Cooper and Sputnik out of the much as they trotted along at my side on leash. I caught a funny photo of Sputnik mid-shake. Sputnik went off the leash for a little while and then he made up for lost time by heading straight into the ditch. Everybody enjoyed a dip in the pond as we neared the end of our hike, and that helped to wash out most of the muckier stuff that was on them from earlier. Griff enjoyed running around with a handful of other dogs who were playing by

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik and Cooper were back at it again, competing to leave the most possible scent marks along our Boulder Creek Path walk this morning. Mamacita and Rucksack were interested in the spots their packmates were marking at the beginning of the walk, but they eventually got pee fatigue and stopped bothering to follow up with Cooper and Sputnik. We found a nice spot on the south bank of the creek where the water was deep right at the edge, so the pack all had fun wading around in there for a few minutes. A couple excited dogs who were splashing around upstream ran over to us. Sputnik and Cooper both remained calm and pleasant while Mamacita and Rucksack sniffed hello. Variety

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Ruffers and Rucksack ran around the CU South Campus Trails together after the pack all had some fun splashing around in the pond. Mamacita and Sputnik watched with interest and leaped toward their packmates when they ran by us. A little while later, Sputnik went off leash while there were no other dogs nearby and he had a lot of fun running ahead and then lying in wait to spring on Rucksack and Ruffers. When they caught up to him, he leaped out and raced up and down the trail as they pursued him. Variety Pack Colby, Stella, Coco, and Cooper enjoyed a leisurely walk along the Bear Creek Path this afternoon. It was hot when the sun was on us, but some big clouds kept us a bi

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Coco, Cooper, Griff, and Sputnik walked the Boulder Creek Path this morning. We made one stop at the Creek along the way. A friendly group of a few people asked to say hello to the dogs, and Sputnik went right up to give kisses. Unfortunately, he was much less friendly toward a couple other dogs who passed by on the sidewalk while the pack was getting attention. Variety Pack Zoey wandered around in the weeds for a while today and chewed on a bit of grass, but before long she was racing for tennis balls alongside Isaac. Ruffers had a lot of fun with a small Spaniel as well as with some bigger dogs. She had more luck in attracting the attention of playmates today, rather th

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik, Mamacita, and Ruffers enjoyed a dip in the stream after hiking over the Red Rocks this morning. Sputnik sniffed around some in the beginning of the hike, but not nearly as much as when he and Cooper are out together. It was a calm and pleasant outing and we kept on the move pretty steadily. Mamacita seemed to be feeling much better after struggling with a very upset stomach yesterday. Variety Pack Cooper, Coco, Colby, Zoey, Isaac, and Yoda all walked the Bear Creek Path through South Boulder this afternoon. Cooper and Yoda both led the pack in sniffing along the creek, but the rest of the dogs were quick to follow up whenever the two of them lingered at an interes

Tuesday, Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff, Sputnik, and Cooper all had their noses working in overdrive this morning. Griff just wanted to sniff, but Cooper and Sputnik made sure to leave their marks at every point of interest. Cooper and Coco lingered in the stream for as long as I let them today, but didn't put up any resistance when it was time to continue on our way. Variety Pack The pack was quickly befriended by a playful Husky as soon as we arrived at the park this afternoon. Ruffers greeted the Husky with a wiggly demeanor and then the Husky proceeded to chase Isaac and Zoey around while they fetched tennis balls. Ruffers played with a brindle-coated dog later on, and also tried to butt in on a coupl

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Chunk joined the pack on a light hike at the CU South Campus Trails this morning during the solar eclipse. He did a good job keeping up on his 3 legs for most of the time until the last 15 minutes, when he had to start taking frequent breaks to gather up his energy and catch his breath. Rucksack found a tennis ball beside the CU tennis courts early on in the hike. He carried it the entire time and fetched it when I threw it for him every so often. Sputnik enjoyed a bit of off-leash time when there were no other dogs around, and he made the most of it by racing around through the brush Chunk wanted to chase him but couldn't keep up. Cooper and Mamacita hiked alongside me

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack We headed to the CU South Campus trails this morning. Mamacita, Sputnik, Ruffers, and Rucksack all took a quick dip in the pond at the outset of our hike. We stopped in the stream beside the trail a short while later but the water was running pretty low. Ruffers and Rucksack had some fun running around together. Rucksack kept returning to the water even though it was barely deep enough to cover his paws. Variety Pack Our little old buddy Oliver joined the pack his afternoon alongside Coco, Mamacita, Colby, and Stella. A nice young man came over and asked to pet the dogs when we were passing through Martin Park at the outset of our walk. He explained that although he love

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack The pack hiked up to the Red Rocks on the way out and the way back this morning. Sputnik, Cooper, Coco, and Griff all enjoyed a dip in the stream at the far end of our hike. Coco lingered the longest in the water - only getting out when it was time to move on. Griff and Sputnik were satisfied with a quick soak and then they hopped back up onto dry land with me. Sputnik and Cooper were back at their competition to see who can leave the most scent marks. I think Sputnik took the prize today. Cooper tried to catch up during the last stretch as we walked through Eben G. Fine Park, but Sputnik went behind him and marked all the spots the Cooper did. Variety Pack The whole pac

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Colby and Mamacita are both dealing with some minor paw issues (Colby worn pads, Mamacita cracked nail) so we had a leisurely stroll along the Boulder Creek Path rather than a more vigorous hike this morning. At one point, we relaxed in the grass beside the path. Ruffers made play bows with Sputnik and Sputnik returned in kind, and then Colby joined in and the three of them had some fun hopping around with each other. Meanwhile, Mamacita sprawled out and wiggled around in the grass. Variety Pack Coco and Zoey had fun running around the trails at CU South together this afternoon. There was a light sprinkle for much of our time out, but the dogs decided they weren't wet enou

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack We had fewer dog encounters today and Cooper only whined a little bit at the first dog he saw. The pack was excited to get into the stream, and everyone lingered there for a little while. Griff was more responsive to being called back to the group and didn't wander off as far as he has been doing lately. One time when I called Griff back while I was squatting down with Sputnik and Cooper for a short break, he came right up to me for some pets and then Sputnik sniffed at his face and gave him a few kisses. Then, I called Coco over and she joined the huddle and got a good head rub. Variety Pack Ruffers immediately headed off to make friends when we arrived at the Valmont Dog

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Cooper was pretty worked up this morning. He barked at the packmobile when I pulled in to pick him up, and he started barking at the first dog we came across as we set out at Eben G. Fine Park. He continued barking at the other dog even as I walked the pack in the opposite direction, and Sputnik then tried to intervene by mounting Cooper. I got Sputnik off of his packmate and then Cooper settled down when the other dog was out of sight. Cooper and Sputnik both stopped to mark spots about every 20 feet for the first 10 minutes we were out. Rucksack and Mamacita both left their own marks a few times as well. After all that, we headed up the Red Rocks Trails and had a nice

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Mamacita has been Rucksack's object of affection lately but today he turned his attention to Ruffers instead. Ruffers played hard to get, though, and dodged away whenever Rucksack started to lick at her ears, so she ended up pretty dry. Eventually, I switched the dogs' positions so Rucksack was next to Sputnik, because Rucksack and Ruffers' dance with each other was difficult to manage. Meanwhile, Mamacita was left with dry ears for want of any of Rucksack's attention. Variety Pack Coco and Stella enjoyed wiggling in the grass at a few different points along the Bear Creek Path this afternoon. Ruffers hopped around Coco while Coco's limbs flailed around in the air. Colby

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff and Coco enjoyed chasing each other over and through the ditch on the far side of the Red Rocks Trails this morning. Sputnik leapt out at them whenever they passed close by, and Cooper eventually started barking at his packmates. We came across a few dogs along the trails and had friendly greetings. Griff didn't wander off as far today. He didn't always come when I called, but he tended to follow Coco whenever I called her back. Variety Pack We waited for some storm clouds to pass by before setting out for a walk along the Bear Creek Path this afternoon. Ruffers was a bit nervous about the thunder and wanted to turn back to the car early on, but she settled down as

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack The pack had a slow start this morning as everyone was very interested in sniffing around. Once Ruffers, Colby, and Sputnik all fully relieved themselves, we got moving along. The dogs didn't get into the water today but we did stop by Boulder Creek at one point. Mamacita, Ruffers, Colby, and Sputnik all thoroughly explored the area, which was surprisingly empty despite the nice weather. Variety Pack The pack took a light hike at the CU South Campus trail loop this afternoon. Coco took up her usual position playing scout ahead of the rest of the pack, while Benny took his time and brought up the rear. Yoda bounced back and forth between lingering with Benny and exploring

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik and Cooper started off the morning by leaving scent marks about every 100 ft through the park on our way to the trail head. We came across a few other dogs on the trails and everyone was friendly, though I didn't let Sputnik linger since he tends to grow uneasy pretty quickly. Back at the packmobile after the hike, Coco, Griff, and Cooper all lay down side-by-side while Sputnik sprawled out in the back. Variety Pack Ruffers and Zoey dodged around with each other and with a few other playful pups at the park this afternoon. Thompson and Benny came through to sniff hello with them all, too. Isaac was too busy fetching his tennis ball to stop and make friends. An old

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Finding parking at Eben G. Fine Park was not a problem this morning. The rainy weather kept all the Creek-rafters and picnickers home while the pack braved the elements. Sputnik did a lot of sniffing and marking on our way along the Boulder Creek Path. Rucksack frequently hurried over to any spot of interest that Sputnik found, and gave it a thorough check. Cooper, on the other hand, trusted Sputnik's lead and just marked the same spots without really bothering to sniff them. Mamacita got a little bit grumpy as the rain gradually soaked in. She grumbled at a maintenance truck that drove by along the path and barked at a little dog who we passed. Variety Pack Our old pack

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Mamacita, Ruffers, Sputnik, and Rucksack enjoyed a light hike through the CU South Campus trails this morning. Ruffers was the lead sniffer today, constantly on the hunt for something interesting. Sputnik and Rucksack followed close on her heels to check on her discoveries, while Mamacita leisurely brought up the rear. Variety Pack The pack headed back to CU South Campus this afternoon. Thompson was first in the water, followed by Coco and Ruffers. Isaac, Stella, and Cooper were on leash with me so they had to exercise a little patience until we reached the pond where there packmates were already wading. When we got there, people got a kick out of watching Isaac flop back
