    Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Rucksack found a stick along the trail this morning. He played keep-away from Ruffers and the two of them had a great time running through the snow together. Mamacita and Sputnik got pretty excited watching their packmates romp, and hopped around whenever they came near. After their play, Rucksack found a bigger, heavier log to carry and brought it along with the focus of a dog with a job. Later on, Rucksack and Ruffers switched chasing roles with Rucksack

Adventure Pack Despite the sunny skies and warming temperatures, the Chautauqua was still pretty empty. Sputnik, Racer, Griff, and Colby enjoyed hiking the Mesa Trail and sniffing at various spots along the way. Racer chomped on some snow from a snowbank on a north-facing hillside as we headed up to the mesa. Colby was a bit wary of a hiker we passed, who then followed some distance behind us. There was a point on our return leg when Racer became alert and started staring

Adventure Pack The pack found a lot of interesting spots to sniff along the trail this morning. There were many times when Sputnik, Mamacita, and Roger Roger all homed in on the same square foot. Rucksack would then take notice of his packmates' interest and join in the investigation. There was one spot that Roger Roger liked so much, he flopped down in the snow and started wiggling around on his back. Variety Pack Zoey, Zoe, Rey, and Griff all had fun chasing each other a

Boarding Pack Little Zoe, Oliver, Clover, and Monarch headed out for a walk to Wonderland Lake together this morning. Oliver and Zoe were sporting sweater and fleece respectively to keep them from getting too cold. Monarch and Clover's natural coats were plenty warm enough to keep them comfortable. We had a very pleasant walk and encountered a few other neighborhood dogs out for a morning jaunt. Adventure Pack The snowy fog that blanketed the Chautauqua this morning made f

Adventure Pack The pack enjoyed some treats when I took them out to work on getting Racer more comfortable with having the harness put on her. Ever since I started using the harness with her, she has been walking very well with hardly any pulling on the leash; but she has been greeting me at the door with a bit of wariness at the prospect of having the harness put on. Hopefully, she can overcome that hesitancy with a little work. Out on the trails, Racer, Griff, Sputnik, a

Adventure Pack Ruffers, Sputnik, and Mamacita sniffed intently around the base of a small bush right where the Mesa Trail branches off from Bluebell Road on our way up to the mesa this morning. Rucksack was already off ahead, wondering what was holding his packmates up. Once up on the mesa, Ruffers had fun chasing Rucksack through the snow. Sputnik and Mamacita were both in an ornery mood when we first arrived at the trail, and barked at other dogs in the parking lot while

Adventure Pack It was another very cold day today, but the pack had a fun time out on the snowy trails. Racer munched on snow all along the way. Colby and Griff both bounded through the fields beside the trail, but they were on different pages and didn't chase each other - they just each ran around on their own. Sputnik was much better mannered today when we came by a young, yellow Lab - the only other dog we saw while we were out. Variety Pack A big flock of geese took of

Adventure Pack Mamacita sported her green sweatshirt this morning for our hike in the cold. Sputnik, Roger Roger, and Rucksack's denser coats kept them warm enough. Sputnik and Rucksack were both extremely interested in sniffing around in the snowy brush as we went. Mamacita and Sputnik weren't particularly friendly when a yellow Lab came along and paused to stare at us from a short distance away. It may be coincidence, but it seems to me that our pack members who sometim

Adventure Pack Sputnik, Rucksack, and Roger Roger were joined by old friends Clover and Monarch for our hike at the CU South Campus trails this morning. Monarch off-roaded for much of the hike, opting to wade through the tall grass rather than stick to the trail. Sputnik joined her to sniff around a lot of the time. Rucksack went to work giving Clover an ear-bath over the course of our trek. Clover didn't mind the attention, and by the time we made our way around the loop

Adventure Pack There was a big, uprooted tree across the trail at Enchanted Mesa that must have been taken down in the powerful winds we had last night. The pack were all very interested in the landmark. After sniffing around it for a bit, Sputnik and Racer started chomping on nearby fallen twigs. Colby enjoyed using the tree trunk as a hurdle, and hopped over it several times while goading Griff into chasing her around it. Variety Pack Much as Sputnik and Racer this morni
