    Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Rey and Isaac joined Adventure Pack regulars Sputnik and Roger Roger for our hike at Settlers' Park this morning. Roger Roger's big brother, Rucksack, took the day off from hiking today since he is still feeling a bit stiff and sore. We headed up the Anemone Trail but didn't make it to the top today. Even though temps were only in the 70's, the sunny sky contributed to a good deal of panting and a slower pace. Rey and Roger Roger seemed the most winded on o

Adventure Pack With the warm, humid weather and cloud cover, it seemed like another good day to walk Boulder Creek Path. Curie, Sputnik, Racer, and Griff all were very interested in making frequent pit-stops to sniff around at the side of the path, so we took a pretty leisurely pace for most of the way. Sputnik seems to be fully over his former romantic intentions with Curie, and they have been getting along fine. Whenever we were walking close to the creek, Racer was inte

Adventure Pack Curie joined Mamacita, Rucksack, and her buddy Sputnik for our outing this morning. It was a pretty hot day, so we stuck to Boulder Creek. Rucksack and Sputnik waded out into the Creek the furthest, but Mamacita and Curie lingered in the water the longest. Rucksack and Sputnik both managed to find some water enough to do a little bit of dog-paddling. Curie and Mamacita were a little less adventurous, and stuck to the shallows. Variety Pack Rey, Zoey, Isaac,

Adventure Pack Racer showed slightly more restraint than usual when the pack hopped into the ditch stream on our way up Anemone Mountain this morning. She was still eager to get in, but she didn't pull full-force to try to drag us there. After the pack splashed around for a minute, we headed all the way to the top of the mountain again. Sputnik enjoyed some off-leash time with Griff when there weren't any other dogs around. Variety Pack Avo and Zoey were all about the tenn

Adventure Pack Isaac led the charge into the stream on our way up the Anemone Trail this morning. Rucksack, Roger Roger, and Sputnik all happily followed suit. For the first time in memory, somebody accurately guessed that Sputnik is a Rottweiler mix. The same couple that guessed Sputnik's heritage were also amused by Isaac's wallowing in the water. Although Isaac was the first in, Rucksack and Roger Roger were the last ones out. We headed partway up the Anemone Trail, b

Adventure Pack With the relatively cool temperature, a gentle breeze, and good cloud cover, the pack made it all the way up Anemone Mountain this morning. We started off the hike with a quick dip in Boulder Creek, then began our ascent. There were a few groups of people at the top of the mountain. Roger Roger, Rucksack, and Sputnik all got some love from them. Variety Pack The sun was back out this afternoon. Milo sat down in the shade at a few points along our walk aroun

Adventure Pack Curie greeted me with a rapidly wiggling tail stub, and repeated snorts directly in my face as I squatted down to say hello and hook up her harness. It was cool enough to head up the Anemone Trail with the pack this morning. The dogs were happy to hop into the ditch stream after we came down and were crossing over to the Red Rocks. We stopped beside a short, wooden bridge that heads toward Mount Sanitas, and Racer looked like she was considering diving off o

Adventure Pack Isaac bolted into the ditch stream with singular purpose. Rucksack and Sputnik were off leash and already wading through the water. Mamacita followed behind Isaac with a more polite approach. We had taken advantage of the cooler weather and headed up the Red Rocks mountain trail this morning. When we reached the ditch after the first stretch of our ascent, the dogs lingered a long while in the water, cooling off before the last leg of our ascent to the Red

Adventure Pack It was another hot morning, and we took our time as we ambled along the Boulder Creek Path. We didn't have Mamacita stopping to sniff aimlessly through the grass like we did yesterday. Yoda, Griff, Racer, and Sputnik all did a lot of sniffing around, but they did so with more of an air of purpose, as they put their noses close to the ground and seemed to follow scents until deciding on places to leaves their marks. The Creek provided some welcome relief from

Adventure Pack Mamacita kept drawing the pack off to the grassy fields beside the Boulder Creek Path this morning. She didn't seem to be interested in any particular scent, and she didn't wiggle around in the grass at all - she just slowly meandered through, sniffing casually along the way. Sputnik, Rucksack, and Roger Roger didn't mind taking their time and sniffing along with her. We made a few stops at the Creek, and everybody was happy to go in each time. Sputnik and
