Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Ruffers and Sputnik danced and dodged around with each other in the snow at CU South this morning. Ruffers mostly stood her ground while Sputnik made passes. Ruffers would rebuff him and then turn to prepare for his next charge. A few times, Sputnik dropped into play-bows to invite Ruffers to come at him, and she responded with conservative hops and boxing paws. Curie and Mamacita watched the play unfold between their packmates, and leapt around in place with enthusiasm. Variety Pack Rey, Poppy, and Dylan started off our walk along the Boulder Creek Path in a pretty excited state, with everyone pulling in different directions to sniff in the snow. When everyone had finall

Adventure Pack Racer and Griff sprinted up and down the trail together at CU South this morning. Racer doesn't get to go off leash very often because she tends to take off and not come back for a while. The trails were nearly empty today, and the snow was just asking to be romped in, so I let her go wild. Sputnik joined Griff and Racer off-leash for a little while as well, until we started approaching some other canine trail-goers. All three of them had a lot of fun chasing each other, and just bounding through the snow. Variety Pack The park was empty when the pack arrived this afternoon. Rey, Avo, Zoey, Milo, and Mamacita all had fun running around the park with me. Zoey managed to u

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik and Roger Roger had a blast chasing each other through the snow at CU South this morning. Mamacita reared back and leaped forward repeatedly, to show her enthusiasm about her packmates playing in the snow, and her desire to join them in their romp. Unfortunately, Mamacita has proven unreliable off-leash, so she was stuck with me. Variety Pack The pack's walk at Bear Creek was pretty mellow until we pulled over into a snow-covered park along the way. Riley and Rey were quick to start making play moves with each other. They bowed, leaped, and dodged all around, kicking up snow as they went. Ruffers and Zoey soon joined in the fray, adding their own moves to the mix.

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Little Zoe was happy to join some of her old packmates for our trip along the Bear Creek Path this morning. She was even more excited about the squirrel she saw in the park, before we set out. Once the squirrel had gone up a tree and Zoe had settled down, we got out of the packmobile and started walking. Sputnik, Avo, and Zoe all pulled a bit at first, but settled into pace quickly. Mamacita and Roger Roger were with me from step one. We made a stop in a grassy park along the way, when Mamacita started to rear back and pull off to the side. Once on the grass, Mamacita went for a wiggle. Meanwhile, Sputnik and Avo made play-bows in front of each other and leaped around a

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Racer and Curie were really loving the snow in the park this morning. Racer kept sticking her head under like an ostrich. Curie caught lots of snowballs. Sputnik and Curie play-bowed and boxed with each other in the snow. Griff didn't seem as enthused about the snow as his packmates, but he wandered into the snowy brush to leave scent marks every now and then. Variety Pack Isaac, Zoey, Avo, and Riley all chased after tennis balls at the beginning of our visit to the Valmont Dog Park this afternoon. After some of that, Riley turned her attention to stalking other dogs in the manner that cattle dogs like to do, then running up to them to say hello. Avo, Isaac, and Zoey all

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik and Ruffers made play-bows back and forth, and pawed at each other's shoulders while the pack had made a stop to sniff a tree beside the Bear Creek Path this morning. Curie saw her packmates' frolicking, and offered a couple playful little hops of her own to the mix. Later on in the walk, Mamacita chose a spot to wiggle in the grass immediately adjacent to the path, and ended up halfway on each as she squirmed back and forth with abandon. Variety Pack Cooper and Dylan were sure not to let any of each other's scent marks go without adding their own two cents to the scents. Poppy, Zoey, Rey, and Roger Roger checked out many of the same spots, but rarely felt compelled

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik, Yoda, Racer, and Griff enjoyed another calm, pleasant walk along the Bear Creek Path this morning. It was another beautiful day to be out, slightly warmer than yesterday. Aside from a squirrel who ran up a tree as we came near along the path, there wasn't much action today. Racer perked up briefly at the sight of that squirrel, but didn't get too riled up. The rest of the pack stayed calm at my sides, as they were throughout the walk. Variety Pack I forgot my phone in the car this afternoon, so I didn't get any photos of the pack at play. Isaac, Rey, Zoey, and Avo were all into fetch. Milo was more interested in going around and greeting other dogs. Rey split o

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Sputnik, Mamacita, Griff, and Roger Roger headed to the Bear Creek Path for our walk this morning. It was a beautiful autumn day. The pack didn't pull over to do much sniffing. Aside from a few potty stops early on, we kept up a steady pace until we made our way back to Martin Park, where we hung out in the grass for a minute before loading back into the packmobile. Variety Pack Riley was very excited to get going on our walk around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. Eventually, she stopped pulling and settled into pace next to Ruffers and Cooper. Zoey and Rey brought up my other flank, staying nicely in place throughout the walk. Cooper made some stops to mark spots along

Adventure Pack Rucksack rejoined the pack for our hike at CU South this morning. Ruby also joined for the day, while she is boarding with us. Our regulars, Mamacita and Sputnik, rounded out the pack. The wind was blowing pretty hard throughout our excursion. Rucksack was keeping up alright, but by the time we reached the far end of the loop, he turned and wanted to head back the way we came. Still, our trusty old hiker was very happy to have joined his friends. He had been eager to come along with his brother Roger Roger all week. Variety Pack The wind was still blowing when we first set out around Wonderland Lake this afternoon. Poppy is getting easier to manage on the leash. She wa

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack There aren't many crickets left on the trails at CU South anymore, but one straggler tried hitching a ride on Sputnik as we passed over him. Sputnik spun around to nibble at his back, but the cricket was already gone as quickly as it had come. Racer and Sputnik were both thirsty today, and drank as much water as they could - often nosing in on each other when it wasn't their turn. Griff had no interest in drinking. Curie was wary for a while, but she tried lapping up some water as we neared the end of our outing. At one point along the way, we had stopped for a water break and some pets. Curie came up to me and stood with her front paws in my lap. When I leaned forward

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Ruffers brought up the rear, taking her time to sniff at the edges of the trail as we made our way around CU South this morning. Griff went the other way, and played scout for us. Mamacita and Sputnik stayed on leash with me. A horse came onto the trail some distance behind us, and Ruffers stared for a good, long while before turning her attention to a nearby puppy. The pack all went and sniffed hello with the pup while I got Ruffers and Griff on leash to lead everyone away from the horse. Later on, we came across a Bernese Mountain Dog who was out with another dog walker, Jacqui. Sputnik wasn't as friendly toward the Berner as he had been with the puppy, so we didn't li

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack It was another pleasant morning as the pack headed to the Bear Creek Path again - a bit cooler than yesterday, but still comfortable. There wasn't a lot going on, other than the occasional biker or walker. When we stopped at Martin park at the end of our walk, Milo lay down and flopped around in the grass while Griff, Sputnik, and Yoda stood by and watched. Sputnik eventually stepped over to sniff at Milo, and then he and Yoda went to mark a nearby tree. Variety Pack Avo, Zoey, Yoda, Milo, Isaac, and Rey were all pretty well in sync as we walked around Wonderland Lake this afternoon, which earned them several remarks of praise by passers-by. Our only interruptions were for

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack It was the perfect morning for a walk along the Bear Creek Path with Sputnik, Roger Roger, Milo, Mamacita, and Griff. Sputnik and Mamacita interrupted the walk a few times, to sniff beside the path, but we otherwise enjoyed a nice pace on a warm day with a cool breeze. We passed by a dog who we saw last week. We gave them a wide berth before, since Sputnik isn't always the friendliest toward unfamiliar dogs. This time, we passed a bit closer and Sputnik gently wagged his tail with his ears perked as we went by. Of course, he then had to stop and leave a scent mark. While he was doing that, they passed by us. Then, when the other dog stopped to sniff, we passed them agai

Friday Pack Activities

Boarding Pack Racer, Rey, Milo, and Griff enjoyed a walk to Wonderland Lake together this morning. Rey jumped at squirrels. The others stayed pretty mellow. Racer walked surprisingly well, hardly pulling at all. Milo and Griff were both very good on-leash walkers, as they typically are. Adventure Pack Mamacita, Roger Roger, and Sputnik kept up a steady pace along the Bear Creek Path. Sputnik didn't make many stops to leave scent marks. Mamacita only pulled over once, and didn't even wiggle in the grass. Roger Roger kept on pace as he always does. As a result, we made it past the park where we usually turn around. We headed down some distance beside Foothills Parkway before finally h

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Griff and Rey chased each other through the snow while Racer, Sputnik, and Curie walked with me. Rey ran over and made playful moves with Curie and Racer every now and then. Later on, when Sputnik went off-leash, he and Rey had fun dodging around with each other. Racer munched on lots of snow. Curie looked on, seeming not to understand what Racer found so tasty. Variety Pack Avo, Zoey, and Isaac all shared a tennis ball that I brought along with me. It got lost in the snow every once in a while, but eventually someone would find it. When Avo got it, she chewed on it proudly for a long while before giving it up. When Zoey found it, she play-bowed over it and flaunted in

Wednesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Curie took an interest in Mamacita's wiggling today. She watched with curiosity at first, then hopped over to paw and nose at Mamacita, which caused Mamacita to spring into an upright position. Ruffers and Sputnik have been around Mamacita for long enough that they take her wiggles-in-the-grass in stride, without paying her any particular attention. Variety Pack Dylan played lead investigator of the scent detectives as the pack made their way along Boulder Creek this afternoon. Roger Roger and Poppy were always quick to follow up on whatever leads Dylan found. Zoey, Isaac, and Rey were less committed to the cause, and only joined in the sniffing a couple times. After a li

Tuesday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Racer kept by my side quite well today, while Yoda, Griff, and Sputnik wandered off-leash. Sputnik tried to tease Griff into a game of chase, but Griff preferred to sniff along at an easy pace. Yoda lingered behind to investigate points of interest more thoroughly than his packmates, and then trotted to catch up with the rest of us. A few dogs came right up among the pack to sniff hello. Sputnik generally kept his cool, but when one of the dogs turned his attention to him and started to sniff at him, he began to growl. The other dog took his time making pleasantries with the rest of the back before turning and heading off to catch up with his human. Variety Pack The pack

Monday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Curie was happy to join the pack for our outing this morning. We headed to the Bear Creek Path, where we encountered a lot of bicyclists, some joggers, and a few other dogs. Along the way, Mamacita found two different spots in the grass that called out to her for wiggles. At the second stop, Roger Roger lay in the grass and just relaxed while Mamacita went at it. Curie and Sputnik stood by and took in the scenery. When I offered the pack some water, Curie only drank a tiny bit before closing her mouth. She had some long strings of drool hanging from her jowls, and I directed the water stream to wash them away after she stopped drinking. Sputnik and Roger Roger were happ

Friday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack Mamacita lay in the grass for a minute before working up the energy to wiggle around in it. When she stood up, Isaac stepped over with his nose to the ground. He seemed to be assessing whether Mamacita's wiggle spot was good enough for his own enjoyment. After sniffing for a moment, he decided he would save himself for some other spot. It turned out that spot was not to be found today. Roger Roger, Riley, and Sputnik showed no inclination to join Mamacita in her grass-wiggling. Variety Pack Ruffers was back out with the pack today, after spending the summer away! Our new pack members Dylan and Poppy both greeted her with calm and curious sniffs, which she returned in kin

Thursday Pack Activities

Adventure Pack There was only one short stretch at CU South where crickets were hopping across the trail, and one hopped right onto Sputnik's snout, which caused him to curl his lip and shake his head around furiously. Racer, Griff, and Isaac went without any direct cricket encounters. Everyone but Griff was happy to take drinks from the CamelBak along the way. Variety Pack Avo quickly found a tennis ball with a hole in it at the Foothills Dog Park, and carried it with her for a while until she set and down and Isaac snatched it up. Isaac played fetch with it while Avo followed him around, waiting for him to leave it unattended for a moment so she could steal her prize back. I helped her
